With 2016 right around the corner, Shenmue 3....

You think since Shen3 is so early in the process it in just the last couple days started a kick starter. With that in mind and knowing the dev and the lineage of the franchise; do you think it's more or less possible Shenmue 3 will launch on next gen consoles & pc ?

You see there I said " Consoles " right? :P

Anyway, realistically, what ya think?

We are only half way threw 2015 and the PS5 probably won't be out until 2020.

I doubt they want the development of this game to drag on and on like The Last Guardian did.

Long as it comes out, I dont care. I'm guessing 2017.

The game is stated for late 2017, but it could still onyl come in 2018

I would be genuinely shocked, shocked if the game made it to market before 2019. If it does launch 2017 I'd be very, very worried it's a cash grab and the game itself pales in comparison to other this gen games in it's genre which really would be sad for this storied franchise. I would think a game like this should have about a four year dev cycle and that's once the dev'ing starts. IMO of course.

I never played 2 previous games, but yea i would think 2 years is a quick turn around unless he has already done some work.

Well the game has only just started development.

A minimum of 2 years is expected, so even then, early 2017 would be expected. But if funds form KS get bigger, the scope might increase, pushing it to 2018.

For comparison, Bloodstained is stated for 2017 and is a 2.5D Castlevania. This is a (maybe) open world-ish third person game.

it's still too early.. my prediction is it will launch next gen like many games before it..

The game is slated for late 2017 on PS4 and PC. When you look at the options for having the physical PC version shipped to you, it states late 2017.

I assume it's possible that kickstarter pledges will get copies of the game before the general population. I pledged $100 and am glad to be a part of it. I've been waiting 14 years for the ending, I can wait another 2-3 years for development.

A snowball has more chance in hell than Shenmue 3 has of launching next year.

I love the first 2. One of my all time flavor and I fund it with $160. Their target day is late 2017 which is totally fine for me!
