CD Project Red has stated that the recently announced delay of the Witcher 3 was due to the fact that they feel that the market is weary of rushed, unpolished games like Master Chief Collection, Unity and Drive Club. They didn't single out these games specifically, but everybody knows exactly what they are talking about.

I for one applaud CD Project for delaying a game to make it great. I wish more developers had the courage to delay their games if it means it will run as intended on day one. This is one of my most anticipated games of 2015, and I am actually glad that the game will get the time it needs to run well at launch. Take your time, fellas.

How do you feel about the delay? Do you think CD Project Red was out of line for singling out the recent crop of half baked games?

This sucks. I don't care much about TW3. It's Cyberpunk 2077 that I want. I guess this delay means Cyberpunk 2077 will be pushed back as well.

I'm with you on this as well, Cyberpunk 2077 > TW3 for me as far as hype / interest is concerned.

They shouldn't need others game release state for how they release their game. They should want to release a finished game on their own.

Disaster Chief Collection really was a massive blunder. At least the Halo franchise was good for one thing for once.

I am keeping my expectations in-check. The Witcher 2 was masterpiece and I loved original as well but for some reason I'm worried about this game.

I hope something good comes from all of these unfinished messes. Devs and publishers should be finishing their games, not relying on patches after launch.

I would rather have delayed games scattered throughout the year than broken messes all piled together for the holidays.

Thats not what he means. What he means is that the public are tired of buggy games that have been shipped out too early so he wants his game to be perfect from day one. How long did it take DC to get fixed? How long will it take Ubisoft to fix AC:U....

This

Also I'm willing to bet even with the delay there's gonna be bugs with TW3, it's still my most excited game of 2015 besides Zelda U, but delay games =/= bug or glitch free games.

I totally agree. Why the heck are developers releasing unfinished products? We're talking about huge companies here, I don't believe they just "missed" the myriads of bugs in their games. I hope they'll get the message after the major negative feedback of huge games like Unity.

I also hope CD Project Red weren't waiting for this mess to realize that their game needs a bit more polishing...

Um, they just now figured out that we don't like unfinished games? This should have always been clear.

Why are people being like "YA DUH" about this?

The game wasn't ready to ship in February so they delayed it.

When people asked them why they said as much.

That's it.

It kinda makes me feel that had it not been for all these unfinished games, they would have happily released a buggy game... only now they want approval and so they're gonna make sure to do it right.

So what exactly? They were about to release an unfinished buggy game before everybody else beat them to it?

I agree. I understand that game development can be really stressful for a team. It must not have been easy to admit that they needed time. I think those games helped them realize that.

So they were going to release an unfinished, buggy mess but due to recent outrage they have decided to ship it in a bit better condition?

I hope it actually was a buggy mess and they pushed it back to avoid all the negative feedback it was obvious they would receive.

I also wish people wouldn't pre-order games and would wait to read reviews before they buy them so that broken games are not bought and devs that release broken games are not rewarded.

Delayed good game > rushed bad game.

Besides, May is when I'm free anyway. Not that I can play it when it comes out...

Yup, so I'm disappointed in them that they need others games mishaps to steer their release.

I think CDR may have been opportunistic by using the recent release of half-baked games to announce this delay. They've always sold themselves as a gamer focused developer. What better way to announce another delay, and enforce that image. Its a little disappointing, but it will be worth the wait.
