Wind Wake HD physical sales 152K in NA....

Game sales stats website VGChartz is reporting that Wind Waker HD has sold over 152,000 copies in North America during its first week of sales. Keep in mind that this does not include digital copies sold on the Nintendo eShop, which is said to be doing well. The biggest news from this is that North America saw a sales boost of Wii U units to 35,000. That’s a jump of 31% for Wii U sales.

Nintendo had a huge marketing campaign for Wind Waker HD and the Wind Waker HD bundle. Many people were excited to get the GameStop bundle with the included Ganondorf figurine. This is great news for Nintendo in North America and hopefully we’ll continue to see these sales trends with major releases like Super Mario 3D World.

I fear for the Wii U. I hope sales improve soon but with PS4/X1 coming out, it will be a tough holiday for Nintendo.

152K just in North America is really impressive and a good sign of what's to come when the megatons of Mario Kart and Smash Bros hit next year. It'll only be up from here. People know what they want and are speaking through their wallets.

Terrific game. So incredibly charming and Hero Mode definitely makes it feel like a different game than the original.

Good. SM3DW will sell even better.

@Zassimick: Hero mode feels like the way the game should have been all along. Suddenly the potions and fairies make sense.

@AznbkdX: It implies impressive. Otherwise it wouldn't be great news. It's not great news for Nintendo if the sales are unimpressive.

It is impressive for an exclusive (since past generation sales aren't counted for) on a console that has less than 5% of the total sales of the 360.

Whatever floats your boat, man, i'm just saying that those are some impressive sales for a system with a minuscule install base that's been overall crucified by gamers. That is all.

Would have insta-bought if released on PC. On Wii-U, no chance.

I expect digital sales were at least 2x - 3x higher (it had a two week head start for crying out loud)

And for a Wii U game, that's actually not terrible. Not good for a Zelda game, though.

We’ve had unconfirmed reports of the Wii U hitting a nice sales increase since the launch of the Wind Waker HD bundle, but private investment firm Wedbush lends a bit more credibility to that with a report that the console has sold 55k units or so since September. That’s a 79% increase month over month for Wii U sales, but it’s still fallen short of what Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 pull in during the same period.

It should be noted however that the Wii U is on a definite rise and the Wind Waker HD bundle has done a great job in both North America and the United Kingdom in getting people to purchase a Wii U.

also, does this count the bundle? A lot of people probably also just bought the WiiU Zelda bundle outright.

Game will sell over a million in its lifetime anyway. Nintendo games always have long legs. So good start.

Adventure of Link is freaking hard. It's a great game and probably the most underrated game in the series, but damn if it didn't make me throw my controller on multiple occasions...

This I would prefer over Wind Waker HD, still, I'd rather they do a Twilight Princess rather than a remake.

@DocSanchez: It's great news that it sold systems and games at a higher rate than normal, but is in no ways impressive amounts of sales overall.

Eh overall it doesn't truly matter. It didn't really do much for the WiiU, but at least its good that it sold in a rather bleak climate.

Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, Zelda etc to name a few. They get remade every 5 years and have outsold previous entries.
