This is an interesting question, one I have not even decided on yet myself. Digital has the added benefit of allowing you to bring multiple games with you on the go and not needing to carry the individual carts, not needing to swap out your games. The downside is that Nintendo is rarely flexible on prices digitally. And you cannot sell your games nor buy used, if you are into any of that. You also cannot let your friends borrow your games. Plus, it only has 32GB internal storage (but I heard you can expand it via micro-SD cards).

Hmm, this is a tough one. I got two months to decide. Got my pre-order locked down. Now I just have to decide on what games I want to get, and how I want to get them. I was mainly a physical copy kind of guy with my 3DS, just seemed natural since I was physical on DS. But, I am wondering now with this new paradigm whether it is finally time for a switch.

For those of you set to get this on day one, how are you feeling about getting games physically or digitally?

Just like the PlayStations which doesn't support external hard drives and backward compatibility, I'm still on the fence with the Switch but will likely buy these cartridges instead. I mean I'll only buy exclusives for the Switch, so I don't have to worry about taking up space with multiplats which I will get on superior consoles like Scorpio. I need more info if the Switch will add external hard drive support, backward compatibility and I wanna know if you do buy digitally is there a way to game share. Those will be my deciding factors but it looks like cartridges is the better option anyway. I read they will offer monthly games with the subscription, so that's going to be interesting how the storage option will be like in the long run.

little cartridges are easy to store as oppose to discs, on my PS4/XB1 i have a mix of about 60/40 with physical being in the lead.

I opposed digital last gen, but I really enjoy it now (especially after using steam on PC for awhile)

I need to know more information before I can make this decision. I need to know about the storage capabilities of the Nintendo Switch and if Nintendo is tying the games to the console or your account.

Physical, but I will say the tiny cartridges are underwhelming in how they implement the box art design (from what I saw).

Will digital games be cheaper as you are not paying the premium for the cartridge?

Digital. I used to be very pro-physical until i realised just how convenient it is to have everything with you on the systrm instead of having to carry a case around with all these other game cards

Physical? At those prices, no idea about the rest of the world, but here in the UK, they are £10 more expensive than PS/X1

@lamprey263: No, besides the drawbacks you mentioned (physical ownership, trading, high digital pricing, etc), Nintendo is notoriously tough to deal with when dealing with their DRM for secondary consoles. They typically tie the games to a machine and ID which can pose problems for multiple machine owners or just people replacing a stolen unit (see DS, 3DS, Wii, and Wii U). You have to then go through the hassle of calling up Nintendo, but even then that doesn't help owners of multiple machines. Of course, maybe the Switch will be different, but I somehow doubt it.

I have bought various "on sale" digital Super Mario World and Zelda games repeatedly per system.

I like digital for PC, but not consoles.

I turned my 3DS into a download system and honestly, I wish I went digital long ago. There's something incredibly gratifying about having an accessible library just button clicks away without having to deal with clunky physical packages. I think it works best for traveling and I think the Switch will have a strong traveling appeal as well.

Surprisingly this should be the answer, but it appears from my experiencing not a lot of people want to share their passwords. With MS it's different though as that password can be the same as your email.

I plan to go entirely digital with the Nintendo switch with the sole exception of Breath of the wild since I've got that game pre-ordered along with the Switch itself.

Physical whenever possible. That should be my motto.

And even then, i hesitate. A lot of digital only things get physical copies if they're popular enough.

Physical where possible.

I was actually considering going all digital for Switch for convenience sake, but with the confirmation that most retail releases will be around $10+ cheaper physical, and that I really like the cases for the Switch, I'm instead going physical.

Still picked myself up a 200GB Micro SD for any digital only titles

Well, if I get one I will go physical. Mainly because I like collecting nintendo games.. Saying that, I get free download codes from a mate of mine that works for Nintendo and has no time to game himself, so gives them to me.

I went fully digital this gen besides Wii U, going digital for Nintendo Switch will be no different to what I went with PS4, Xbox One, and 3DS. I'm buying myself a 250GB for Switch and I'm all good since I'll be just buying Nintendo exclusive games anyways. (Well maybe a very few 3rd party games likes Skyrim)

I usually go both ways half-half. I will get (small) party games digitally (1, 2, Switch and Bomberman) so I have them ready whenever someone wants to play with me. I will get games like Zelda physical though, as I will just play it for a while and it'll disappear in my big collection once I'm done with it.

I'll go physical for the bigger games.

I will have a carrying case in which I can put like 12 of them so I'll be able to take plenty of games with me on the go. The box art for Switch games is some of the best box art I have ever seen. It's so colorful and jolly.

Large 256+ GB SD cards are expensive. I have an old 64 GB SD card that I'll probably use for the smaller indie titles. And I'll only move to a 128GB-2TB SD card if I ever run out of space which I don't expect to happen.

If I can afford to purchase a large size SD card, I will go all digital (if the software price is lower than the physical). Other than that, it will be entirely physical.

Nintendo eShop is an abomination of a digital distribution service, and unless NIntendo shows they are willing to change drastically, I will never buy from them digitally.

The Eshop prices are terrible. Better off slinking to ebay with 14 year old trying to sell a used copy, without a box for 20% more cost then new.

I'm still undecided but I'm leaning towards digital. I love physical media, especially cartridges, but these tiny cartridges are not appealing to me the way that the bigger cartridges that retro consoles had were and the convenience of not having to swap cartridges especially on a console that will be portable as well as a party machine are making me lean towards digital.

The Shiekah Slate carrying case that comes with the Master Editon of Breath of the wild has space for 8 cartridges I believe, along with the one inside the actual switch. So I will probably go physical for a while.

I actually have had a bit of a physical renaissance since I joined Best Buy's GCU. Can't beat 20% off brand new games. It literally pays for itself if you buy more than 1 retail game a year.

If I do end up getting one for my kid, physical would be the way. Him and his buddies like to swap games.
