Will PS4 stay at $400 this year?

I think so. PS4 still has the advantage when it comes to exclusives, best console multiplats, indie support, etc. It's just a more complete package than the competition. Xbox One may be cheaper, but it's like MS is admitting you're just not getting the same deal as a PS4. What do you think, SW? Will Sony continue to dominate at $400?

the cpu is about the same as the ps4's one

the ps4 controller is also more expensively made cuz it has a rechargeable battery by default and a microphone jack that works iwth all headset

i think microsoft went into this gen thinking they were going to be #1 in USA so they could name any price they wanted and sony has literally just destroyed them in valuewise and gamers took notice an now ps4 is still more sold in USA and worldwide right now

i don't think sony has to lower the price but as an xb1 owner i would not ever buy ps4 unless its like 350 dollars an comes with bloodborn or some 60 dollar ps4 exclusive,

i payed 450 for the xb1 call of duty bundle, the game is what 60 dollars new, and 1 terabyte hard drive for an extra 100 dollars, but the 329 unity/flag bundle with 50 dollar gift card an 1 year xbl woulda been a way nice

i think that black friday was good time to buy both systems with that deal and the last for us/gta5 bundle for 400, now sony is being very stingy tho they should atleast continue that bundle atleast for awhile or have, they should just do 2 game digital bundle of gta5/last for us/destiny u choose the 2 games or something

ONLINE service has been down alot and matchmaking has been crappy on certain games like MCC

the download digital games from the store take up to 10 hours on 60mbps connection i use i count that towards xbox online service not being good or fair

i agree i like xb1 exclusives way better than ps4 now and for the future cept i don't like seeing ps4 get all the exclusive indies

The xb1 controller is crap man it comes iwth no rechargable battery, no microhpone jack, and still runs outa batteries and it doesn't even give you a chord to plug it in as a normal controller

it feels crampy on my hands and is positioned poorly and the d-pad is still bad if your playing indies or fighters

ps4 also feels like crap but i think its a better value controller even tho it feels worse than 360 i think

the wallpaper backgrounds LOOK LIKE CRAP over the dumb ugly boxes everywhere that takes too long to move between them

it feels like a laptop UI and i have windows 8 laptop and I HATE USING windows 8 and its a touch screen one its even worse for a console imo

2 months out of 13??? lol come on the only reason the Xbox sold more is due to Halo being released, and the price drop, as of now PS4 will be gaining owners due to The Order coming out and then BloodBourne is huge, I see the PS4 regaining it's sales in the next few months and then Uncharted will hit which will boost sales even more, and even at that point they still can lower the price.

the only reason to lower a price this soon is because of poor sales or the amount of time the console has been out.

and I wouldn't go as far as saying Xbox has the best exclusives, Sony certainly has the better variety in exclusives and the UI on X1 is awful. but I'm glad X1 has picked up sales with it's price cut.

No. It would be stupid to lower their price. Even $50 would be bad. Sony needs to focus on profitability. Even though the Xbox One took the last 2 months in the NPD it doesn't mean that PS4 sales are bad. The only time Sony should consider lowering the price is when the sales slow down by a significant margin.

The PS4 will probably stay at 400 until the end of the PS3 lifecycle. After all, Sony is still selling the PS3 for 250, and they probably cannot lower the PS3 price any further. Thus, they also need to keep the PS4 at 400 to have a proper price gab between those two devices.

Sony has a history of shooting themselves in the foot. I say they raise the price to honor the PS3 launch at $600.00.

I really hope not. They should be finding a way to drop to $299 ASAP.

It is still selling really well, and although the Xbone may be starting to gain some ground in the UK and US, Sony right now are desperate for profits. Even in the unlikely scenario the Xbone catches up and overtakes PS4, unless Sony can make similar profits after reducing the price with more sales then they will keep it the same price.

Microsoft are in a healthy position, so they can do what ever they want. If they wanted to drop the Xbone to $200 and take massive losses they could probably take it, Sony would have no chance to make such a big loss in their current position.

I think the price will drop at E3 or by the holidays. The economy of scale for manufacturing this thing must give them some wiggle room considering they will likely blow past 40M sold this year.

I got mine for $350 NIB in Mexico which was a really good deal considering that it retails for $550, ( that was one of the reasons that convinced me to get one over the X1 ) . But since they are selling well for $400 I see no reason why Sony would lower the Price anytime soon.

Depends if the XB1 continues to outsell the PS4 in the US until this years E3.

They can stay at $400 and continue to outsell the Bone in NA and worldwide. That new $350 price point won't help the bone if alll they have to bring in prospective buyers is a broken Halo game.

as bad as having wired controllers? wired controllers is not bad. Just plug in a cable is not that hard. Wireless controllers is a joke, worse is WiiU gamepad it only got like 2-3hrs battery life. They should just made it wired in the first place cuz you will be playing with cable plugged in more than half the time anyway.

No reason for them to drop the price yet. As long as people are happy buying the console at $400 they will continue to sell it at that price. When sales drop off then they will drop the price some. Personally I would expect a slim model before a price drop, but that's just me.

They really can't afford to drop the price, if they do Kaz will have to start dropping his pants to make up the difference.

I don't think this is even a question. They will absolutely lower the price this year.

If they do it won't be $299 unless they already have prepared finances to take a big early loss and make up for it way ahead of time. I expect the same thing from Xbox One's $350, if anything both will be $299 temporary during november and December and that's it. This is only the second year, prices on parts are still not exactly down, big price drops would be around $100-$150+ losses per console.

I think the PS4 will continue to charge a premium until the Xbox One starts gaining ground. Until then I think It might say at $400 with maybe a game or two included.

If part prices go down I could see a drop, which is natural. But seeing as PS4 is current gen 8 console leader and still selling at a incredible pace, we could see the price stick till 2016.

I will stay at $400 but if Sony feeels any pressure, they'll just make bundles but wont need to lower the price of $400.

Right now every PS4 comes with TLoU, so thats already a value bundle.

On less something big happens, I dont see them lowering the price untill the inevitable PS4 slim comes out (probably sometime is 2017).

Not likely, Sony is willing to sink the ship that is the entire company just to prop up the playstation line we will likely see a price drop and millions invested into R&D for slimming the system down at the cost of sony's Canadian retail stores, phone arm, tv arm...etc
