Poll: Will PS4 Dayz outsell pc? (64 votes)

Yes, PS4 is a magical box of power 22%
Pc sell more 50%
Requires both consoles to outsell pc 28%

My friends, given the recent announcement of consoles outselling the popular lego ripoff game Minecraft, would it be logical to assume when Dayz hits consoles, they will also outsell the pc version?

#1 Posted by scottpsfan14 (6126 posts) -

Probably. Since there is slim pickings on these consoles.

#2 Posted by LegatoSkyheart (25980 posts) -

DayZ is STILL in the TOP 10 sold items on Steam. Doubt PS4 will take over it anytime soon.

The answer is definitely Xenu.

Minecraft on Consoles vs PC sales isn't fair, Console versions have retail copies, PC doesn't, this is something everyone forgot to mention when they gloated it sold more on consoles

I like waffles better, too. The butter stays on the waffle better, especially when you put the syrup on.

Will it ever release on consoles even? the game is a mess.... its still not as good as the free mod.... at this rate it will NEVER be finished let alone Console ready.

A Cash grab.

Blizzard seems to be doing fairly well ;)

I doubt it

#14 Posted by lostrib (40000 posts) -

Well the PC already has a lead

#15 Posted by NFJSupreme (5384 posts) -

Probably not. Console players don't really know about it and online multiplayer only games don't do well on console usually.

Your threads and poll options are the worst. I mean, are you actively trolling or just screwing up because you're bad at this?

Nope . Anyone who says otherwise is in delusion . DayZ has already made ton of money and it is not even finished yet . Online games are more successful on PC anyway .

I highly doubt that. The fastest selling PC game is actually Diablo 3. It sold 3.5 million in the first 24 hours alone. I don't think Crysis sells that well.

#22 Posted by gago-gago (9678 posts) -

Do they even count digital sales?

#23 Posted by clyde46 (46997 posts) -

I doubt it, there is no mass market campaign.

Doubt it . May be back then , but not now . Diablo 3 sales are over 15 million ATM , while Starcraft 2 sits at (at least) 8 million . Half Life 2 sales are over 12 million , while Portal 2 is over 5 million . The best thing I can think of on Playstation is GT series . Sales of 6 GT games are between 60-70 million , while on PC Sims 1-3 have sold over 150 million copies . Please check your facts , and google everything I've mentioned here . Everything is fact .

Blizzard and Valve have built a loyal fanbase by releasing their every title on PC for over a decade .

Minecraft is hurt by not being sold through any digital retailer considering the biggest market for Minecraft is kids.

Parents/Kids see advertisements for Minecraft on the Xbox, retail copies of it, or "themed" Xbox cards and accessories at any store that sells games. I wouldn't be surprised if most people who own it on Xbox don't realize it can even be found elsewhere.

DayZ has sold millions of copies so far though thanks to being on Steam. It wouldn't be anywhere near as popular if it was sold the same way Minecraft is.

#26 Posted by monstersfa (396 posts) -

@Gue1: only way to know is when the dev/pub announces sales info. Console games typically sell better than pc games. PS 4 will eventually outsell pc version.

Anyways, I don't see PS4's version of Dayz outselling PC.

Yes, but don't worry Cranler is suspended atm so we're safe for now

So no one console has outsold PC as far as I know

#32 Posted by lostrib (40000 posts) -

Wow, I hadn't realized that DayZ standalone had already surpassed 2 Million copies, and that was a few months ago

#33 Posted by FoxbatAlpha (8272 posts) -

For it to outsell PC it has to be released on the PS4 first. This is going to be awhile going by DayZ's history.

#34 Posted by UnbiasedPoster (940 posts) -

The real question is: will Day-Z PS4 be finished, unlike the PC version?

#35 Posted by harry_james_pot (11100 posts) -

Nope. I doubt it'll be even popular on consoles at all.

#36 Posted by monstersfa (396 posts) -

@daious: comparing two consoles to pc is totally unfair.

Just wait for the whiners to come in and cry:" bbbbut console gamers are split up by brand competition." Or even more silly:"consolites have 2 versions of the game to choose from while hermits only have one"

Lol! What dumb excuses will they come up with next?

#37 Edited by lawlessx (46941 posts) -

Im sure the game will sell very well. Its a type of game that is very new to consoles and could have the same affect minecraft made when it was first ported.

#38 Edited by Kinthalis (5323 posts) -

Usually these comparisons are flawed becaus eof the lopsided marketing games get when they go consoles.

The way this usually goes is developer X makes lots of money on PC with basically zero marketing. Basically word of mouth and at best, and this is rare, some web ads on PC-centric websites.

Then they go to port their game over to consoles and one of two things happen:

1. Since they were succesful on PC, the console manufacturer helps in the marketing and promition of the title, even though they would have never given the title the time opf day before it found success on PC.

2. The developer invests some of the money it made from PC into marketing the console version.

Either way, marketing makes a big difference, and naturally the title may sell more units on console, eventually. Minecraft for example, sold an enourmous amount of units on PC direclty through notch in most cases, which means every unit makes him almost 3 times as much as every console retail sale. However, the big marketing push for that game didn't start to really take off until AFTER it came out on consoles, and the marketing pretty much made it seem like it was some sort of console exclusive game. Your average person on the street probably thought it was only on Xbox.

Couple of other things to consider: in order to match the PROFIT from PC sales, devs typically need ot sell almost twice as many console retail units. So even if the console version eventually outsells it, it might still not bring in as much profit as the PC version.

Also, this game is STILL janky as hell. It's been a year or more? IF this game does come out on PS4, expect it in 2016, when it will be irrelevant. Also, this game is pretty much oinly popular on PC thanks ot mods. It will die a slow gurgling death on consoles.

#39 Posted by KHAndAnime (14242 posts) -

DayZ probably won't come to the XB1.

#40 Posted by monstersfa (396 posts) -

@Kinthalis: How were the console versions of minecraft marketed? Were there tv ads?

360 version of minecraft was digital only for the first year. Is there a digital vs retail sales breakdown?

#41 Posted by Mr_Huggles_dog (1609 posts) -

PC will out sell everything now that "PC" includes Mac, Linux, the microwave, the toaster and my dogs electronic invisible fence.

I keed, I keed.

I dunno....DayZ is a borken p.o.s. so I just don't care.

#44 Posted by wis3boi (31700 posts) -

by the time it actually arrives on ps4, no one will care, and i bet many will be too frustrated by the game anyways

#45 Posted by glez13 (8918 posts) -

Of course it will. Games hardly sell on PC.

#46 Posted by comptonst88 (290 posts) -
