Unless they introduced another new sku with more gutted out parts, it's possible, but knowing the situation most likely never. That's the downfall for starting with $599 USD.
well you have to pay for online gaming for 360. I don't see how there is this price issue with the ps3 when you use more money on the 360. But either way, both are affordable. It doesn't take a genius to find a job. A week of work is all you need to buy any of the consoles out right now. eklineage
Saving for a car .. and a ps3 isnt easy then...
According to a Sony insider, there will be a 45nm Cell BE processor introduced early next year (possible Jan/Feb). It's supposed to be 50% smaller and consumes 30-40% less power. Now the intresting part, the cost of the chip is 50% less than the current cost. This is supposed to reduce the cost of the PSU and it should run about 25% cooler. Then he went on to explain that the RSX and XDR will move to 55nm which will yield similar cost savings.
The guesstimate is by April of next year the cost to make a PS3 could be about 40% cheaper than it is today. This should technically lead the way to a redesign (much like the PS2 slim) later in 2009.
Now whether or not this is all true SOME of it is as mentioned in this report:

Of course none of this does anything for this years cost. If there is going to be a price cut, Sony is going to have to eat the costs which by the sounds of Sony's top execs.....they are not looking to do a price cut. Next year is the year of the "cheap" PS3 I suppose (cheap as in the same price as the other consoles lol)

Yeah, but take into consideration other things people need to buy that's more important than a gaming system then you'll see.

Technically speaking it started off as $499 and $599. That's why the first "price cut" was NOT a price reduction. The first price cut was actually in Oct last year where we saw the 40 gig go to $399.
I can't imagine the PS3 not having another price cut this year but it looks like Sony is not going to budge........at least I say that right now. If Sony sees a huge increase in X360 sales from their price cut, I assure you there will be a price cut for the PS3 (even if it's only $50).

ye I was about to add that in sory. Anyhow, if you're supporting urself, then yes it's not ez.
But anyhow, i dont think the TC shouuld even think about getting a gaming console until he get's his car.
PS3 is cheaper if you take into account XBL costs $50 per year while PSN is free...RafinatorAnd everything else you have to buy separately...
the ps3 will probably never be cheaper than the 360 because the ps3 comes with a lot more stuff e.g. blu ray player
Aww... little big planet looked like lots of fun .. :(D3ADMaggot911
Wait a year and I bet it'll be on PC.
it's already had 2 price cuts.not unless they release one with out blu ray. Or if you wait about 5 years
