Poll Will EA rip off Rocket League? (29 votes)

Yes 100% 14%
They are probably already doing it 72%
No 14%

Rocket League has over 6 million players; a resounding critical and commercial success, it has changed humanity.

Having copied Call Of Duty, clash of clans, steam, Dota, God Of War, Dota again, Resident Evil 4 and so fourth, would it be logical to presume, based on nothing, EA will clone this game under the Fifa name?

Could EA be that predictable?

Will Andrew Wilson show a Rocket League clone at E3 2016?

Could it? sure.

Could it sell a 60 dollar equivalent? I don't know about that.

They will....and it'll be void of fundamentals and be a yearly release...with fictional roster updates and cost $60.

EA will be sure to make a carbon copy and sell it for $60USD with gameplay mechanics locked behind a pay gate (i.e. micro-transactions). Standard EA practice.

Probably. Copycats are pretty much guaranteed, given Rocket League's critical, and financial success. It was easily one of the best games of 2015.

I'd rather they copy something with more substance.

Rocket league is an awesome game. i wouldn't be surprised of "clones" showed up. I mean look how many minecraft rip offs there are. I wouldn't mind EA doing one, the servers for rocket league are terrible. even worse then EA. it's the only bad part of the game

Probably since it has so many players. I see it going the route of Plants VS Zombies Garden Warfare.

I think the problem with the servers lies within the lack of success expectancy. I'm sure their servers were not prepared for the heavy workflow this game has experienced after launch.

There is a shortsighted mistake up there:

COD only exists because Activision wanted a Medal of Honor/slice of the WWII FPS $$$ pie and so it was actually Activision that hired away EA Medal of Honor talent to create the first Call of Duty...but EA does suck.

Then again, so does Activision.

Seeing as how Rocket League is a blatant rip off itself of Street Racer SNES, I'd say it's fine for EA to do so as well.

I agree they didn't expect this many people playing it.thus to their server problems

Dunno, wish there were more fun-focused sports games. Simulation based ones are too complex for what I want out of them.

I can see that, but it has been a few months and they really haven't done anything to fix it. It's still pretty bad. Only blemish on an otherwise exceptional game

It appears this was actually, actually, actually, actually, actually, actually actually, actually, actually, the shortsighted mistake, retrospectively, while Call Of Duty derived from Medal Of Honor. Medal Of Honor (2010) was a reaction to Call Of Duty 4+, with the original Call Of Duty, having never had both a strong focus on multiplayer or RPG progression system, which while it didn't invent, popularized much in the same manner Doom popularized FPS.

Terminology wise: this is why people used the term "Doom clones" as this was the aspiration, not prior fps.

As with the person above, (with the large breasted cartoon anime lady wearing shamelessly little cloths) a mistake between popularizing and inventing seems to exist. It's also possible to duplicate being oblivious of a previous similar incarnation, or adapting or inspired from such as the many adaptions of Macbeth e.g. Ran

In general terms, a ripoff is intentionally without acknowledging, creating a lesser cynical product, like a flea using a dog as an unwilling blood donor.

I've seen some improvement, you don't have the prevalent server fallout every other match, as when it launched. There's a larger gap between games played/server collapse. It is not perfect but, it's heading in the right direction.
