According to nexgenwars.com the nintendo wii has taken control of sales in North America. That was the last market it had to take over, and now Nintendo is in the driver's seat... everywhere.
VgChartz is bad enough, but at least they don't just make up numbers. Nexgenwars uses an algorithm based on older sales numbers to predict future ones. That system is flawed because sales fluctuate with the holidays and the release of big games.
VgChartz uses the same methods as NPD, they just don't have the size, money, reputation, or sources to get the same sample sizes and information to extrapolate sales numbers.
Still, they're generally within 10% each week, and they adjust their methods and numbers with each NPD, ChartTrack, and MediaCreate numbers.
