Why is Nintendo so stubborn?

Why do they insist to not change? Its commendable in a way but can they survive another generation with just kiddy games and weak hardware?

Nintendos argument is that during the ps1 n64 Gen they had superior hardware and still sold the least, and during the ps2 xbox GC Gen they had better hardware than ps2 and still sold the least.

That was then, this is now, the market can change in an instant.

If they want to survive they should expand their mindset, imagine a system with all of Nintendo's first party and all of the 3rd party support than ps4 and x1 gets.

There would be no stopping them.

They in their mind couldn't care about 3rd party because they make almost all the money they need off of first party stuff. So for them they aren't reliant on 3rd party games. And be honest even if they did come out with games like COD, Madden, and other 3rd party games on the system and it costed about as much as the PS4 and Xbox One you really buying the system? Lets be honest Bayenetta 2 came out for the system and it couldn't compel people to buy the system so yeah...

Becoming a clone of their competitors is hardly the best way to go. As of now, they at least still stand alone. A Nintendo console is always different from the others. X1 and PS4 already have the problem of being way too similar and interchangeable in the minds of consumers.

Further more if you care so damn much about hardware you should really build a PC. The PS4 and Xbone are nothing special. Get over yourself TC.

I like the tech, games, controller, graphics, and 3rd party games. It sounds to me like you're lashing out and scared.

Nintendo is highly profitable and they fill a niche in the gaming universe that nobody else can. The Wii U also happens to be getting a lot more of my gaming time than my PC or PS4 right now. Think they're doing fine.

Not change? Do you even have any concept of how far franchises like the Mario platformer has come since it's NES days? They are some of the most highly modified games over their history, always experimenting with new mechanics and always freshening things up with each iteration.

If "it's always Mario" is your only justification, then you really need to figure out what about games you actually play... the appearance or the gameplay.

I guess I'll be the one guy that agrees with the TC..im fixing to be 43..have had every NIN console to date except the WiiU.."wont buy that one"...AND every generation its like im playing the exact same games over and over with slightly updated graphics and controls..They cant make a good controller..they cant get their online set up and done properly..and they cant seem to break away from characters I played as a child..Do I want COD on NIN?..sure why not? BUT I would also like some other games..something that says.."hey THIS is why NIN is still in the game"...SO far,...im unimpressed..

If the only thing you can see about SM3DW is the Cat Suit, then that's sad.

Nintendo bet on its tablet controller, and so far thats been a big failure for them. There is a market out there for a Nintendo home console, but it needs to be priced accordingly. Hopefully Nintendo learned its lesson with the Wii u, and comes back strong with their next console. Also Nintendo makes some of the best games, so in that department they shouldn't change a thing.

You know, it's more than asking to take a few notes from rivals. Yes the online needs tweaking. Yes they should fix their digital policies. Heck, I personally wouldn't mind some third party support (but like I keep saying, even IF Nintendo gets third party support, how many people are going to care when Mario/Pokemon/Zelda are still around? Because hey, when those release they still sell at least a few million and Mario and Zelda have such a legacy in games, but at the same time, let's belittle them for milking/rehash like they're Activision/EA/Ubisoft everytime a new Call of Duty/Madden/Battlefield/Assassin's Creed release). BUT it's also everything WRONG about Sony and MS (also SEGA because... you know) that the gaming public seems to want Nintendo to do

Sometimes it feels as if Nintendo is non-existent outside a GameStop. I'n any other store I just don't feel it.

Such as?

-Embracement of more horrible DRM practices (as if Ninty's digital ways aren't bad enough)

-Selling off hype and doing absolutely freaking NOTHING (Sony's the most guilty of it this gen)

-Used game online passes

-DLC abuse (which most third parties are upright guilty of)

Their stubornness is something that appeals to many people that want something different; why would you want three consoles exactly the same -- all trying (badly) to be pcs.

Miyamoto is past his prime and without creative new talent Nintendo doesn't have a very bright future. They either need to adapt to modern tastes, or they will continue to lose relevancy with the average gamer. Having Iwata in charge only makes matters worse.
