Why has no one created a romantic video game?

Seriously why? it's an untapped market.

No a love sim, for example, you're a middle aged investment banker looking for love, but you cant seem to find someone, then before you know it, you meet this girl in a cafe, 6 months later they are happily together untill he cheats on her, and she kicks him out, now it's up to him to fix this.

Because most videogamers are sad and lonely male nerds that would never support such a thing.

Actually, it's probably because it would be kind of hard to do a straight romance game, plus I was joking but the videogame audience is still a little more niche than the widespread movie going audience that can have anything be successful if it's at least worth watching.

I think some games do toy with it, The Darkness had one of the best tragic romances I've seen with a really great scene showing it to boot, Catherine is basically one big romance game (that also involves block pushing puzzles in between romance), plus relationships and romance are toyed with in games like Mass Effect and Grand Theft Auto IV.

I think we'll start seeing more of that stuff as soon as audiences start opening up and once we see the success of that kind of concept though. For the record I don't really have much interest in romance movies or novels, and I doubt it would carry over to my gaming choices.

Please, there's plenty of games on the indie market and some of the romance found in big name titles aren't half bad either.

There are many brothels in the witcher 2.

there are plenty of dating sims, there is some Sims like game focussed on Singles and dating and there there is (was? Dunno xD) stuff like Second life or Hobo Hotel where you could meet actual persons in an artificial enviroment

The real reason is sex. They cant even show an ass before the ESRB labels it A for adult, which will kill any chance of the game selling. Games = show a butt = labeled as Adult Movies = show **** ass, penis vagina = still can be rated R only Games are treatly unfairly in comparison, I say protest the ESRB or get someone newfr3ddiemercury

Actually there are a lot fof games including sex, especially from japan.Not sure if they are legal in your country though

I'd play that game specially if there is an alien invasion on the day you propose to your gf, some frantic car racing to get in time on dates, auto health regeneration in sex scenes and finally an unexpected twist in the story where the woman you end up falling in love with turns out to be a cyborg...
