Because JRPGs are bastions of graphical capabilities.

Its just to save money and lower its needed cost to make a profit. This is how their games have always been, its why they use the dark style textures etc to hide its limitations. Vita uses these tricks on a lot of games also. JRPGs have been doing this for years since it costs so much to do them, those voices and translations etc arent cheap you know. The games have always been good even with the weak graphics.

Well, given the last two console Persona games were PS2 games, I don't think I can be too disappointed, it's only really seen a presence in recent years outside the PS2 games were on PS Vita for Persona 4: The Golden, Persona 3 Portable on PSP, the first Persona game on PSP and two Persona 2 sequels on the PSP, and of course the Persona Q game on 3DS. Without a doubt, this will surely be one of the most visually impressive Persona games in many years, even the best looking of the SMT games and derivatives and subseries.

Though, graphics in the technical sense are the least of my concerns about presentation. I always felt Persona 3/4/Q were each kind of simple on the technical side regarding presentation, and found most of the visual flare came from their design choices in visual presentation. In other areas of strength for the series, great soundtracks, exceptional localization, great writing and characters you care about, and balance between dungeon crawling and social aspects.

I feel that regardless of quality of the game, I expect a natural reluctant toward the new setting and characters given I've had to live with Persona 3 and 4 the last several years there's just some natural resistance to change. Persona Q fit like a glove and felt like an extension of the previous games and I didn't feel any hesitance playing that as I was familiar with characters, their quirks, and as far as staying consistent with characters and their behavior, and the feel of the games (despite being very Etrian Odyssey in style), it still felt very familiar all around. Persona 5 on the other hand, I just want to relive the way the previous game captivated me all over again. Might be asking for a lot considering the previous games left quite a favorable impression on me. But I have faith Atlus's Persona team can actually pull it off. And I'm saying this as someone who is not that big on JRPGs, and find most of them to be weeaboo shovelware; Persona is the real deal JRPG, a game worthy of praise and not just things fanboys say to make their rivals jelly.

Anyhow, if the game can look as good as say Catherine, I'll be fine.

It does not look like a ps2 game, if you really do think that you shoud check out how the avarege ps2 game looked like. Persona 3 looks like a ps3 game.

I never said it wasn't worth talking about, just most of the games shown the gaming community at large couldn't care less about, so for us, the vast majority it's not worth talking about.

Well I do and you should, when this is the bulk of content coming out for the PlayStation 4 it hurts the community at large, not only for not providing them with something, but in the means of discouraging them because there's nothing coming out for them.
