"Photo modes" have always done this. Since the image is a single frame, the extra processing power that comes available from not rendering a moving image can be applied to more complicated and detailed rendering features. The same was true for Gran Turismo 4.
Photomode only shows what people want you to see not the whole thing. But anyways cows need to stop kidding themselves if this game is anything to brag other than graphics.

Driveclub got delayed multiple times so that's nothing more than an embarrassment if it wasn't fully finished. I haven't really seen anyone praise DC for anything else other than graphics around here.

Nope, all taken as gameplay shots. The game has per object motion blur on the go, also you can pan the camera any time you want during a race so just time it well to frame the shit you want. Photomode really just adds some aa and softens the shadow that's it, all the lighting, shaders, textures and world geometry are the same.

Did the people that took them say that? But thank god for motion blur. The shots with the mountain looks pretty damn good thou. The rock texture are better than the other assets.

The game look pretty good at certain parts like the mountain than after seeing some still images without the motion blur of some of the other tracks it wasn't as good like I thought it would be.
Here my verdict the game can look amazing but others times it looks bland and not so impressive. Things such as motion blur and the angle you take a screenshot can make a big difference. Certain areas look better than others perhaps a consistency in the graphic.
I feel like my TV is too big for 1080p so it hurts my opinion on PS4 and Xbox One graphics discussions. I see TONS of jaggies when I play DriveClub but it might be because I play on a 70" TV. 70" is the breaking point for 1080p imo. The DriveClub I play doesn't look as clean as the ones in these videos, gifs and screens. The lighting is probably some of the best on consoles though I can say that much.

I'm just going by what I've been reading, a lot of people rate the game a 8/10 and say its no where as bad as GS say it is. Anyways look at me defending a Ps4 game haha, must be something I've eaten today.
@Ben-Buja: photomode lod is used in time trial, but yes, in races with other cars their is a lower lod model used. honestly tho, unless its a car model with a visible engine(like a ferrari for example), the lod differences are pretty minor. heres some driveclub gameplay shots that debunk this geeks thread.

The game sucked and had problems online and got a damn 5 here for its problems well deserved,it was a new series unlike Halo which got a 6 on and is a know collection of 90+ games on other platforms and on this site.
But graphics talking DC freaking chew and spit any game on xbox one,and that include cardboard box Forza5 and FH2 as well.
This is a graphics thread not a thread about how bad it was.
Game has always looked good. Horizon 2, Project Cars also look incredible. Who cares? How the game plays, how much content it has and how well the game plays online with friends is more important in the end.
