I played crysis warhead in high settings without any problem and it was great. But when i got crysis i play at exactly same settings as before, but at some mission cutscenes my pc just shuts down without any warning or anything, so it made me try to skip cutscene everytime it start so i can't really see the story line well as before, but gameplay is fine no problem, so what cause it? is my game bugged? or because i got crysis from a friend, which he cracked it or something.

Why is this in System Wars? And second, it might be a cracked version.

I doubt the game is bugged or pirated since the "crack" just removes the DRM (my guess). A computer randomly shutting down, especially during cutscenes when things get heated is most likely a result of a part in your computer getting very hot and shutting itself down to prevent damage. Post a screenshot of these http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/ and http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/CPU-Z.shtml while the game is running.

I would lower the settings to medium, as the original crysis on high is actually more demanding than warhead. Although I don't see you complaining about fps issues, it would mean it probably is something else. What are your computer specs? If your using Radeons, I would rollback to catalyst 9.5 or 9.4 as the newer drivers have some known compatability issues.

it's your power supply...300W is too low and won't be enough for your system. You need at least a good brand 500W psu with a good amperage on the 12v rail

yeah its definately your power supply, you should check the minimum wattage requirement for your card, and fyi this should be on the pc hardware forum not on system wars

Does a 300W PSU even have the connections for a GT250? Also, you should check PC forum (common sense)

This is the power supply I use, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371007 . Since that seems to be the issue you shouldn't have a problem replacing it. Google has plenty of guides on doing it but if you are not computer savvy or are "afraid" of busting it then let a friend/techie replace it for you.

Yes its most likely your power supply and even if it isnt whats causing it to shut down, you still need to get a new one. way more than 300W.

And this kind of question belongs in PC hardware discussion. Thats were you will get good advice.

The minimum requirement for your Video card is 450w. I would go higher than the minimum too.

Your GPU will last... until your current PSU dies and possibly takes your entire system along with it (power spike, fire (no I am not kidding, FIRE) or whatever) Get a new PSU AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Your current system is probably drawing close to 300 watts already, and no PSU can put out at 100% efficiency. You are begging to lose your entire system right now with that POS powering it.

Stop playing 3d card intensive games until you sort the PSU out, for god's sake you're gonna break everything in it.

Yup.. that's what I was thinking. I had similar problems when I had a low power supply unit. PC runs fine now and no problems with my graphics or graphic card.

Get a 450 or higher. Nothing less then a 450 though. You should be fine after that.

Overdrawing the PSU can cause the system to shut down/restart. Get a better PSU, otherwise you are putting your computer at risk for a massive PSU failure which could destroy all of your components, not just the PSU. It could also potentially result in a fire. NEVER, EVER cheap out on a PSU. EVER. EVER. My recommendation

Most likely your windows install is screwed up, or you got mad dust in ur video card or cpu heatsink making it overheat and pc shut down. When my pc get's dusty seriously my pc will straight up cut off if im trying to play high end game like crysis. just the other night, my chipset fan on my motherboard wasnt spinning fast and my pc kept shutting off. lol i put fan blowing on my chipset heatsink and no more shut downs. could be ur chipset running too hot also.

No. It IS his PSU. An underpowered PSU WILL get overdrawn at peak load with the hardware he has. An overdrawn PSU almost always results in a reboot of the system or a total failure of the PSU(including the possibility of frying all the other hardware in the computer or even starting a fire)

been many times though i had extra fans blowing on my chipset, but my CPU AND VIDEO CARD heatsinks were dusty as and my psu because i havent cleaned them out in month or two and my pc actually would shut down running highend games like crysis. so in other words kids, check ur chipset fans, keep ur stuff dust free AND RUN A GOOD POWERSUPPLY lol
