BioShock is System Shock 2 underwater with less RPG elements and gameplay options.
This.
Bioshock fails as an FPS and an RPG. It's only good thing is the narrative, therefore, it should've been an adventure game.

Well, even the narrative is just a retelling of SS2. Fontaine is just a human SHODAN.

Well, it's not bad. I wouldn't say it's good when compared to other media, but still. Pretty cool for a game.

It's a good retelling. And the atmosphere is expertly crafted. It's a shame the rest of the game doesn't match up.

....222 - 200 equals they broke even dude
the 200m production costs includes everything like shipping, leasing, retail space, ect.

Also of course devs don't see all of that obviously. Depends on contract they sign, whether they get royalties (how much %), if pay is dependent on milestones.
If you want a case study look at Infinity Wards lawsuits. The 500m+ they made from Infinite far exceeds the budget and they broke even dude after a week.
To say game wasn't profitable is ludicrous and that was your initial claim.
I'm not debating anything else.
That's why Bioshock has to die.

Where is the link to the 222m number?
"but it's sad that an RPG/FPS hybrid"
ahahahhaha its cute you think that.
Play system shock 2 wipes the floor with bioshock.
Also bioshock infinite sucked. Too linear too dumbed down too repettive. Oh and the series are not dead. Hey what makes money makes money, i think wolfenstein new order and singularity are the best fps in a very long time, but cod and destiny and bf and creed make more money.

First of all, are you oblivious to what my nickname stands for? It's an easter egg from the first System Shock. Needless to say I'm a veteran of both System Shock games (unlike most System Shock fans, I've played the first one extensively) and have completed the second one multiple times.
I'm perfectly aware that BioShock is a streamlined System Shock without its brilliant micromanagement, depth and complexity of the skill trees which basically made it a class-based game.
However, I openly embraced those limitations and the streamlining process as the game was still plenty enjoyable in its own right. And besides, compared to other games, it was the pinnacle of complexity, in the same way Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2 were compared to the rest of games in that generation.
@soulitane: 3.7m units sold * $60(avg price per unit) = $222m Total Revenue
Now where did the 200m+ budget come from?
You serious?
The alleged $200m figure which was debunked can be found by googling "Bioshock Infinite budget 200m" and enjoy clicking on the numerous links.
Go google anymore who what where when questions you got

You seem like quite an angry fellow. Don't worry, this is a loving and nurturing environment.

Rich
Anyway no asking trivial questions is annoying not angry especially when A, mentioned before B, very simple to google
Your acting like one of those kids on yahoo answers who basically say do my homework for me
@Salt_The_Fries: "I'm perfectly aware that BioShock is a streamlined System Shock without its brilliant micromanagement, depth and complexity of the skill trees"
Which makes bioshock infinite look like a linear pew pew cover based shooter and not action rpg anymore. The simplification has been finalized.
Bioshock was boring and the only thing going on for it was the stigma made by gaming news like on this site ... I remember that some people threatened to leave their job because of the religious content ... what a joke ... and it was supposed to be incredible storywise and it was a sci-fi cliché.
Uncharted isn't better either. I can't beleive how many people loved those game and TLOU ...
