there's heaps of big names out there. i'm going to say a couple of names which few others might think of:

Will Wright (Sim City, The Sims)

Chris Taylor (Total Annihilation, Supreme Commander)

No, but really. My tops would be.

Sakaguchi

Miyamoto

Itagaki (Only giving him props for the NG games, but that's enough imo)

Dude that used to head up Castlevania

Kojima

Mikami

Hell I'll even throw in Uematsu. So many awesome gaming tunes.

these 2 are not very diverse though, both just make the same type of game over and over again. total annihilation was pretty sweet though

That's obviously Shigeru Miyamoto. To begin with, he saved gaming with the NES and the Mario games, and he still manages to be quite relevant to this day.

Steven Blum, voice actor, credited in some 261 games when the entry was written. You may also know him as the voice of Spike from Cowboy Bebop.

It's Miyamoto, but if he doesn't count for some reason, I guess I'd say Sid Meier maybe? I don't know.

He created Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda. Star Fox, F-Zero and Pikmin. And has been involved with most iterations of these games that have pushed boundaries in their respective genres to massive new heights. No one is as recognizable as him when it comes to game development.

The only other person who can really compare to him, in terms of sheer recognizability, is John Carmack. Who doesn't have nearly as diverse a development history, but has the popularity.

I'd have to go with Ray Muzyka, Greg Zeschuk and Kojima for developers. Then Troy Baker for voice acting, the dude is Triple A voice acting.

PS Vita. You can stop anywhere, and continue at any point. Don't need to restart the whole application.

You know what's so messed up about this question? Not the fact that the most obvious answer is pretty obvious and will be said normally, but the fact that the others are not even close to memorable in comparison imo. I guess good poster boys do a damn fine job of staying in peoples memories ie Stan Lee.

Out of the people I actually remember I guess I'll say Sakaguchi.

Besides Miyamoto, probably Shinji Mikami. He has been involved in some of the most acclaimed games ever.

Carmack. Considering everything Gage accomplished was with the Quake engine. With game structure based around Carmacks general foundation. That engine valve calls source. Is heavily modified quake code.

Doom, Quake, Wolfenstien. The foundations of the FPS as we all know it today.

I know old school shit. Boring.
