Which was the best RPG console? SNES or PS1?

Just curious about the popular vote.  I have a feeling PS1 will win due to some of the newb gamers who think PS1 was the 1st console in existance, but IMO, SNES had the classics the PS1 rpg's couldn't touch:

Chrono Trigger

Final Fantasy 6 (best in the series by far IMO)

Secret of Mana

Seiken Densetsu 3

Super Mario RPG

By far Squaresoft's best work

I think it is close but I would have to give the edge to the PSone.

i like snes.  another good rpg on it that I didnt read here (as i skimmed) was Ogre Battle.  That game was pretty innovative.  RPG strategy game.

BTW, anyone who hasn't tried Super Mario RPG because they don't like nintendo characters has really missed out.  That game was innovative, fun, had a great plot, and the gameplay never lagged.  I loved that hidden boss in monster town.  Truly one of the best RPGs ever made

I think PS2 is also pretty good for RPGs...but I'd say, PS1.

Definately the SNES. Chrono Trigger, Tales of Phantasia, Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy V and VI and Terranigma to name a few great ones.sword_chuckz

PS1 easily. ..aside from having some of the greatest RPG's of all time, it also had many of the Snes's best RPG's re-released on it.  Including FFVI and Chrono Trigger. 

I vote for PS1.
You can play Chrono Trigger, FFI, II, III, IV, V and V on it anyways.
