I'll say the PS3's... The Wii's is a tad small And the 360s? That's a freaking circle.

For me its the PS3's, the buttons are well seperated. The Wii's is just too small, and the 360's is a circle. I like them in the order I listed.

...couple with pressure sensitive buttons and a bettershoulder/bumpers and I'd be calling it the king.

Ugh, I wouldn't like that at all, the position of the Dpad seems a bit awkward for my liking. And I use the dpad a lot, in fighters.

oh, the 360s controller's only flaw.:P

it's the part of any controller I use the least, but I'm not sure whether I'd like the Wii d-pad or DS3 d-pad more.

I think I'd go with the Wii's d-pad actually.

I play DS somewhat, dragging my thumb seems like it would be easier than having the spacing between. a minor difference though

i always liked the circular D-pad even since the days of my SEGA Mega Drive, so i like the 360's d-pad more, but with time it will get very unresponsive and a little loose which is very annoying

Out of those three, the Dualshock 3.

However, the Wii's Classic Controller's D-Pad is easily my favorite.

The Wii classic controller has the best d-pad by far. Nintendo invented the d-pad and has always made the best one. The one on the 360 is flat out terrible. The PS3 one is very good, but the segmentation is a little awkward when switching between directions.

Out of those, DualShock. It's basically the only thing that's good about that controller.

I prefer the D-Pad of the Classic Controller (Pro), though.

For movement, the Nintendo d-pad obviously. You can't beat that. For everything else like weapon selection, Sony's.

I would say the Dualshock as well. The Wii's one is fine but its placement is horrible.

I admit that the 360 d-pad just sucks, anyone who says otherwise is a huge fanboy. The Duelshock is obviously the best, but I still prefer the 360 stick placement and overall controller design

Best D-pad on a controller easily is won by the Sega Saturn.

Sega Saturn Controler

There is a reason the special edition Street Figher 4 controlers looked the way they did...Street fighter 4 controller.

For this console generation, the Wii cl@ssic controller. It has a nice solid d-pad that I can comfortably operate with my thumb in the middle. The 360 d-pad is kinda iffy, and the cut-out on the center of the Sony d-pad makes using it in the aforementioned manor for any length of time very uncomfortable.

modified xbox dpad. If you follow the guide to put a little plastic membrane under the dpad (no sanding required) it actually makes the thing far better than any other controller. Without it the 360 dpad is absolute garbage though.

But i guess if you arent willing to open up your controllers and mod em... probably the wii, followed by the dual shock... and xbox way in last.

In Order:

Saturn (ACCURATE, Easy to feel directions, easy to travel, good size)
Genesis (Like the Saturn easy to feel directions, easy to travel and accurate)
N64(it was rarely used, but was great)(Big, Solid)
Phat DS (Good size, solid, good tactile feel)
GBA (solid, good tactile feel)
SNES, Wii C la s s i c Controller (softer edges = less owies vs. NES, nice size)
XB Controller S (Not bad at all)
NES (good, but hard edges make thumbs
Dualshock, All other sony pads (connected underneath, why not on top)
Dreamcast (Penalized for being the first pack-in to relegate Dpads to 2nd c l a s s citizens)
Wii (Smaller than C l a s s i c and rarely suitable placement)
360 (Hard to feel directions & poor travel)
Gamecube(its functional, but bad placement and for the love of god whose fingers are possibly this small!)
Duke (suspect they were trying to make a comfortable thumb rest, but whoever laid out the circuitry got confused and thought it was actually supposed to be usable)

This gen? Dualshock hands down, it isn't even a competition. The best overall would probably be the Sega Saturn.

Saturn, not Dreamcast, that was a brainfart.

Dreamcast (Penalized for being the first to relegate Dpad to 2nd ****citizens)

Seiki_sands

I liked the position of the d-pad on the Dreamcast controller. It felt balanced with the analog stick, without compromising towards one or the other.
