Sexist?.... Cant say I played a game like that, but I have always wondered why there arent any WNBA or Women's College Basketball games. (though if there are please excuse me) other than that I've played many overly sexual games.

Honestly? I can't think of one example off the top of my head.

There is sexy, then there is sexualized, and then there is sexist. Also, some of the stuff being mentioned in this thread is hilarious. Bayonetta? LOLOLOLOLOL

Not sure if TC knows what sexism is.

Ironically, the most sexist issues in video games are targeted towards male characters.

All of Bayonneta. She gets power ups by sucking lollies, attacks by stripping nude, and constantly moans. Also the hardest difficutly is called infinite climax mode. Jesus, I was alone playing it and I still felt dirty and embarassed.locopatho

Sounds like 21st century feminism.

You've either not played Bayonetta, or God has blessed all the white girls in your area.

Is OP a woman, because like most modern feminists, I don't they actually know what sexism is. Scantily clad women are no more sexist than the hyper-masculine males prevalent in just about every video game ever. The quotes below sum it up perfectly. And even though the second one was said in jest, it actually hits the nail on the head.
eh, there's a different between sexism and sex appeal. most "sexist" games, like the one you're talking about, aren't really sexist, just sex. you could say it's no more sexist than porn.BrunoBRS
Gears of War, every dude is ripped in that game. Sexist.SaltyMeatballs

To be fair, that overbite kills any sexiness she could have had.
#69 Posted by HalcyonScarlet (3961 posts) -

I'm not sure this stuff is sexism. Women are marketed to just as much with scantily clad men and women in their magazines so on and so forth. The fact that women are sexualized in video games, is more about people in the industry not having a clue on how to direct games toward women, so they're still geared towards the guys.

It's more about not having enough women in the industry, because the guys don't really understand them so they come up with crappy shovelware on the DS. The sexist stuff probably has no sex in it. It's probably a pink console with some patronizing nonsense games on it.

Men like the perfect shaped woman and women like the perfect shaped man, that's not sexist, it's natural, it's instinct. It doesn't mean we overlook the average looking person, but we're still animals.

Yes, a totally empowered female character at home in her independence and sexuality starring in a game that doesn't take itself seriously and uses sexual innuendo as a form of satire... is totally sexist.

Glad you agree. If it was a guy moaning and stretching about the place in a thong and sucking lollies and winking and thrusting his ass at the camera, people would freak out. But it's ok cos it's "just" a woman and they're supposed to be sex objects, right? It's just a sign of how terrible games are for female characters.

The 'you have to protect her' excuse devs used to justify the planned sexual assault scene in the new Tomb Raider game.

Nope, instead they project male characters as being macho, meatheads who resort to violence as their only way of communication. It's a video game; I see people who accuse things as being sexist as bad as those who blame video games as the main cause of today's violence in society.
#80 Posted by GarGx1 (2426 posts) -

Devs happily make male stereotypes for nearly every game in existence, so I have no problem with them doing the same with female characters. Chainmail bikinis FTW :)

Sex sells!

This.

And let me preface what I am about to say by stating that yes the industry does have a problem with how it depicts woman, which will only be addressed(imo),by attracting more females to the industry.

But think of just about any game and the enemies in that game.Chances are they are male,one-dimensional cannon-fodder,stripped of all humanity, with their only purpose being for you to shoot, blow up and stab.

Imagine the ****-storm if woman were constantly and repeatedly depicted in this way.
