What was your goty nomination and y?

Mine was bioshock. most original game and too me had the best story this year.

GOW II - Great story & gameplay

I haven't played SMG yet, but I'd expect it to great as well.

I got to Bioshock and pressed Vote.

There are a lot of contenders this year.

IMO Bioshock or the Orange Box but I will say The Orange Box because I was really hyped for Bioshock and I got a little disappointed it was still a great game. (I have not played SMG yet I hope to get it for Christmas along with Metroid Prime 3, and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn.)

Edit* Orange Box isn't there but that is what I would of voted for.

Call of Duty 4. The game surprise me by it's immersive storyline in it's single player and then took my breath with it's every on addicting multiplayer which still has me playign each day. I even put Assassin's Creed down the first day to play more COD4 multiplayer and I had really been excited for Assassin's Creed than COD4 prior to both the game's release. I also nominated it because Infinity Ward really set aside some great development work for all platforms, having different teams working on each project and giving all consumers a rightful product. Not to mention when things go array, like the ranking issue with the PS3 a few days ago, they turn around and solve the issue by having a Double EXP weekend to make up for the problem.

Last but not least, the game is available for all gamers (besides Nintendo Wii). Which I think justifies a GOTY a bit moresometimes when a game's this good and is available for most platforms. The "Cows" love it, The "Hermits" love it, The "Lemmings" love it.

There are great games like Bioshock with fantastic story, great atmosphere, and some of the best sound design work as well as voice acting. Same goes for Uncharted Drake's Fortune with all the same reasons, more or less in the same and different categories. Especially with it's animations. Yet COD4 was my nomination.

It will be either Mass Effect or Super Mario Galaxy. I haven't decided yet.

cod4, it surpassed all my expectations and i loved every second of it

bioshock disappointed me very much due to its EXTREME easiness that kept taking me out of the games world of "horror" and back into reality, the ob was great though i didnt like it as much as cod4, god of war 2 was totally awesome but its a past gen game..., and halo sucks just as badly as the other games in the series

however, i havent played me or ac yet.

Are you referring to the preliminary vote on gamespot?

That was not for best game of they year. Its a vote for which game most lived up to their hype.

You do realize this is just a preliminary vote based on which game lived up to the hype not which is the best game of the year, right?

I don't think that was for GOTY...

But anyway, I voted Super Mario Galaxy, mainly because it has actually accomplished something. That is, successfully creating a more traditional gaming experience on Wii while blending old and new and at the same time reviving a little interest in platformers due to the game's unique spherical design.

I voted for Bioshock. Its harder for a new IP to live up to the hype so kudos.
