What the hell's so special about GTA 4?

Seriously, I've always thought all of the GTA games were so boring, the camera is annoying, the game has no point in existing. There's no story worth following, uninspired missions, all of it is just so dull. Except the huge ass city to explore. So far what I've seen GTA 4 doesn't change anything from the previous games. Well, I did see the hanging onto cars thing, I can't remember what it's called, Euphoria? Anyway, all you do in GTA is kill people, where's the fun in that? The graphics are average, the gameplay is boring. What's with the hype? GTA 4 just recycleseverything from all the previous games with only a slight gameplay and graphical improvement.
The main character is ugly too.

So basically, are people expecting GTA 4 to be any different from the previous games? If not, why the monstrous hype? What's the point?

Btw - what's so special about it? Look at GTA: San Andreas. Still a top 15 game here despite being 3 years old.

You should read some previews. There is a lot of little touches that are going to make it better. As far as the graphics go , they look very good to me.

This is why there are thousands of other games, not everyone is going to enjoy a game. Just because it doesn't appeal to you doesn't mean its pointless. Metal Gear Solid doesn't appeal to me, neither does Metroid Prime(the other metroids are different) and Gears of War doesn't appeal to me. So I should go around saying they have no need to exist?

It's the GTA we know and love, but they are making the world feel more "alive", with better AI and gameplay mechanics. I definitely can't wait for it.BioShockOwnz

I don't see why any of them are so great. When I play all I can bare to do is drive around and cause mayhem. The missions are horrible. "Okay, you need to drive to Johnny's Steakhouse and shoot Fat Joe. And Don't get caught!" Yeah, real cool. Why don't I shoot you instead?

My point is, I find nothing fun about the story game, which apparently is amazing because they all get high scores. I can't see why driving around and shooting civilians is worth $60.

I guess I kind of am trolling right now but, there are games I don't like that I can understand why others like. Like Halo, I hate it, but I can understand why people like it. But with GTA, I just do not see why anyone could be entertained by it.

I agrre with on some levels. GTA is a desent game, but I agree they recycle the gameplay and ideas in every game. GTA is a very overrated series and its way over hyped. I still think its a desnt game, but I agree with you that it is very overrated and overhyped.

Bioshock , I am shocked. It might not be your thing but you have to see something in it. Imagine just the sheer comic relief some of these created levels are going to provide.I am going to make a level based on SW. I already have a ton of other great ideas for levels but I will just keep them under wraps.

The story in mario games are all pretty similar, but the gameplay is much different in each one.

you paid 50$ on GTA:SA to drive cars and work as cab and fly planes and get GF's and have *** with a ***** in your car , and delver pizza and burgers and play black jack and slot machine in the casino , and build you muscles and theres rpg elements . you can swim as deep as you can , theres stealth missions and variety , you have a lot of weapons and cars, you have your gang you can get control of territories , you have skill on each gun , theres a tournaments , theres easter eggs , and theres a lot more that may i forgot because its a year now since i finished the game 100% .

LBP is a rip-off of Load Runner or w/e that game was called on PC a really long time ago albeit LBP can share maps and is more robust. PS: THe dev who makes LBP made a horrible game caleed ragdoll kungfu

I take it you haven't actually read anything about it, just watched the screens and trailers and based your premature opinion on that. Cause Rockstar are taking GTA in a direction I assume you'd prefer. It's more realistic and the missions make more sense. The objective might be similar to previous games, but it's the way you go about it that's key. Everything is more detailed and fleshed out.

its the free roaming is what makes stand out from the crowd.

many games have fail tryin to imitate gta. only gta can accomplish it and make it fun.
