Poll What role does the PC platform have for you? (99 votes)

PC comes first, nothing comes second. 12%
PC Comes first, consoles/handhelds are secondary. 60%
Consoles/handhelds come first, nothing comes second. 6%
Consoles/handhelds come first, PC comes second. 15%
pc, consoles, handhelds - I have no clear primary platform 7%

i chose 'PC Comes first, consoles/handhelds are secondary.', because i am a pc gamer but would get a console if it had enough appeal.

Right now, a HTPC. I rarely play games on it, due to it being older.

PC is my expensive emulator because I don't have the space for so many consoles under my TV. Although I'm forced to keep my PS3 since emulation for that is not gonna be viable any time soon if ever.

Consoles and handhelds are my primary devices. PC is used essentially to play some older WRPG nowadays. I just don't like playing on my PC much, because if I'm on my PC I should probably be working.

My PCs (both desktop and laptop) are my primary multipurpose devices. Some of the tasks they're used in:

Gaming

Typing long reports both for work and classes; office work

Media editing: video, audio, images/photos. Also includes encoding plus DVD-burning of finished media files for viewing on TV

Making backups of media files especially family photos

Communicating long-distance with friends both domestic and abroad: E-mail, Instant Messaging, FB, etc

Other fun stuff like Google Earth, Google Mars, Google Moon. The standalone versions work better than the Web-based ones.

-----

My secondary multipurpose devices are my Android tablet and Toshiba NB305-N600 netbook. They're used when I'm away from home and in the local area. Their tasks are mostly light such as:

E-mail, surfing the Web. watching videos (including YT), FB, IM. If I happen to have a need to do some homework, I'll bring the netbook instead of the tablet.

Light gaming

-----

Console/handhelds: The least useful of my devices. Functions consist mainly of the following:

Gaming

-----

If I have to tighten my belt, the consoles and handhelds would be the first to go.

For me. Consoles always come first.

PC is just something I have if I don't have something to play or want to play something really old.

Handhelds... well... haven't had one since GBA

Virtually any multi-plat game I will buy on PC. To make me choose otherwise would require some weird DRM scheme and a comparable console copy I could acquire used or an absolutely awful PC port of a game that I still wanted to play for some reason. Consoles are for exclusives and a select few sport games. My PC is currently hooked up to my big screen as well as a 27 inch monitor so I don't have to worry about not being able to play on my best TV or being tied to a desk to play a game.

PC primary, tablet/phone secondary, console/handhelds distant third. There are still a number of DS RPGs I'd like to get to some day that might at least temporarily swing this order around, but that's it for the time being.

@CrownKingArthur: I'd say yes. I prioritize based on the uses each device have. That said, I think my PS3 and PSP1000 have earned their keep. It'll take something drastic for me to get rid of them.

PC first Consoles second and handheld third.

PC is primary due to: Cheaper in upkeep in games, able to modfy the games to my liking aswell as decide the input of controls. Basicly I can make the game play however I want it to, and bugs can be fixed by community. Added bonus that alot of my friends game on pc aswell.

Consoles secondary due to: high cost of console games which are often not as good looking as the pc counterparts, better for social gaming (with more people in the same room) and specific exclusives. Certain genres I prefer on Console.

Handheld third due to: Of the above the handhelds are less satisfying to play on (still WAY above phones), cheap-ish games, with some genres almost none existant on the other platforms, portable so easy to take with me, Nice to have with you if you do alot of public transport.

Basicly all have a place, each type of system for each situation.

PC first. Everything else second. This gen will be PC as my main and PS4 for the family. Got a 3DS XL for me and my girl (plan on getting a second one later). Might get a Vita, but it has a LONG way to go in the games department before that happens.

For me, the previous generations were console first, PC second... but this generation, it's been mostly PC first, console second, for me. Nowadays, I only turn to consoles for the exclusives and local multiplayer games.

The more I play PC, and learn what the platform has to offer, the less value consoles have.

I'm not sure how someone can find value in, for instance, a $400 console with three exclusives, and very few prospects on the horizon.

PC has handily decimated the combined libraries of every rival platform (PS3, 360, Wii, Wii U, PS4, Xbox One, 3DS, and PS Vita) in high-rated exclusives this year (using Gamespot reviews as my source). That's rather telling imo.

Only made worse when you consider you could buy every one of those titles for the cost of a new console.... That's just plain nasty.

I'll never know what keeps people from even considering PC as a viable option for gaming. Once I discovered the platform I never looked back.

Exclusives are what I like my PC for...especially in the RTS and MMO categories.

As a collector, I dislike buying full retail PC games knowing they aren't worth a penny once I get home (and log into their DRM) despite me having Four gaming PCs...so exclusives are what I use PC for.

If I do buy a multiplat, it's damn cheap again due to DRM. I look at my cases of Starcraft 2 and I know I can't resell them to another collector. It's a bummer if you are collector or someone who likes to lend games out.

I used to play primarily on console, with my laptop used for indie games. I recently switched over to a proper gaming PC. For the most part I'm really glad I did, the variety of games is great and the steam black friday sale was very good to me.

The only thing that irks me are all of the publisher accounts. Uplay, Origin, Rockstar social Club, even fucking games for windows live. I didn't even think that still existed until I tried running Dark Souls. It's the one thing in gaming that brings out the whiny old man in me, I just want to rage and write angry letters to all these publishers every time I pay them money and they push their bs on me before I can even play my game.

PC definitely comes first; have you seen all of these steam sales ^_^

One of my favorite genres of game is simulation, which are seriously lacking on consoles, but thriving thanks to indie developers on PC.

My Vita gets a bit of love most days too, mainly playing old Final Fantasy games, but that isn't a problem. xD

I play games, browse the web, watch tv and movies with mce/xbmc and more with my PC. I can do this on my monitors or on my big screen tv and can use a controller. I do like consoles though, and will likely own all the new ones eventually

I don't have time for consoles.

The sheer volume and variety of PC games completely crushes any desire

In this past month I played Hard Reset, Secret World, Far Cry 3, Dirt, and Eve Online.

So it has %90 of the popular "AAA" multiplat stuff, but it also has so much more.

The only thing I would like to play on PC that I can't is GTA V

Neither the Xbox One nor the PS4 have anything I'd like to play.

In my opinion, consoles don't have enough variety to be a primary platform, and the PC has TOO many games to really have time for a secondary platform.

I don't really do mobile gaming but if I did, I would probably play on a tablet.
