Poll: What price point would motivate you to buy a Wii U? (145 votes)

$99.99 15%
$129.99 8%
$149.99 17%
$199.99 11%
$249.99 (Current) 6%
I already own a Wii U 30%
I'm not getting one period. 14%

Out of curiosity what price point would motivate you to buy a Wii U?

The WiiU is $249.99?

#2 Edited by R3FURBISHED (10809 posts) -

I'd consider it for $200 and a copy of Super Smash Bros.

#3 Posted by lundy86_4 (44154 posts) -

I'm already motivated. I'm just not in a position to buy one at the moment.

#4 Posted by SolidGame_basic (19098 posts) -

you're just asking for it by including anything lower than $199.99

#5 Edited by ActicEdge (24492 posts) -

$250 is a fair price imo. $200 is the sweet spot. For what it currently offers and what it will get in the future I feel it's too expensive currently.

at the moment a wiiu with a game goes for 290 euros here (premium version of course).
i wouldnt buy it for that price.

a wiiu and 6 (5 of which i wanted to buy...the 6th was free to all intents and purposes) games for 370 euros...all brand spanking new. that....that i did buy.

From my quick Google search it is at Walmart, and Toys R Us

I got one last month at 299 (pro? Version bundle)

#9 Posted by DocSanchez (2241 posts) -

I've thought about this a lot and in all earnest I think £150 is my breaking point.

Nintendo, I'm a reasonable man, write me a check for £150 and I'll take one off your hands. I'll also take cash.

We'll call that 150 since the games at least $50

For bundles just deduct what you'd pay separately.

I'm seeing Wii U for $335.50 for the 32GB edition and $300 for the 8GB edition on amazon.

Too expensive for the best lineup available of any next gen system? Oh, God...

Considering the power of the hardware and the fact that it will miss out on literally all major multiplatform games over the next 5 years, yes $300 is too much currently

Yeah I thought I was getting into too much of a Gray area separating the different SKUs so keep in mind that's the basic version so add 30-50$ on each price point if you'd only go for the 32G. Easiest way to go about it IMO.

Multiplats on a console? Ewww, especially when $400 pc hardware plays them better than any $400 console.

No one believes that not even you so stop trying.

#26 Posted by clr84651 (5544 posts) -

Not interested in anything other than PS4. I don't play games all that much as it is, which means it's more than plenty.

Speaking of which does anyone actually know what it cost Nintendo ATM to put a Wii U on the shelves?

#29 Posted by Coco_pierrot (461 posts) -

I have bought a Wii U after their fantastic E3 and ... I think of selling it, it isn't as fun as I thought it would be. I still love my 3DS but this is really not that fun and I just saw that almost every games that I love ended up being either Sony exclusive or multiplat. Like right now I enjoy Bravely Default a lot not so much mario stuff.

Also Mario Kart 8 will get old very fast unlike a game like Unreal you don't have mutator to transform the game into something different

This

I was gonna go with $200 just for the system but then I realized how much of a rip off a 32gb Wii-U is and it doesn't look like Nintendo is gonna release a Wii-poo with a bigger storage device.

#34 Posted by commonfate (12731 posts) -

$299.99 with a remake of one of the greatest games of all time packaged in and I'll buy one.

I bought it for $350 at launch.

That guy was begging for multiplats for the Wii U before. When it was obvious they weren't getting it, the new thing was to make fun of all console multiplats. Now he's adding the "$400 PC Ultra Settings 1080p/60+fps-for-all-next-gen-games" falsehood to further attempt to humiliate the PS4 after the Wii U and defenders took a shot to their pride.

I want to see this $400 PC that you buy today that will run the new Witcher 3, Watch_Dogs PC and Assassin's Creed: Unity all at 1080p/60+fps (or even 4K) Ultra Settings with no compromises.

I can't wait when I see them link us towards some shady Russian site that shows this "$400 PC" they keep talking about. You may or may not get your PC through them. The fun is in the gamble and guessing where your credit card info will end up.

$199 Holiday bundle. (i.e. with at least 2 games, although I would take the MK8 bundle for $199 as well).

It would be cool if there were more special edition bundles, like when there was a red Wii or Wal-Mart had the exclusive blue Wii one black Friday. I'd love a blue Wii-U. I'm a sucker for special edition consoles (have Pokemon yellow 3DS, Gold Zelda 3DS, blue PS3, getting the white PS4, etc).

$99. Why would i spend anything over $99 for 06 hardware in 2014? For $99 its worth buying just for Zelda and X alone
