I bought Wii for Nintendo exclusives, new control and local multiplayer. I got 360 to play with my friends. Good combo for me.

Mainly general interest and features. If the games look great, I'll buy it.

I like gaming. I like a good graphical machine with excellent industry support. I look for franchises I know and would like to continue with. Then I buy both Sony and MS' console.

If it's a Nintendo system, I am most definitely going to buy it due to the fact that it will undoubtfully get some of the best games ever on it. So it is games, mostly.

^^ Agree with the Nintendo part. Even though the Wii isn't the best system, as mentioned it'll undoubtedly get some, if not THE best games of the generation.

As for reasons why I'd choose other consoles.

Controls - Are they comfortable? Sony still disappointing me with that dual shock

Games - Do I want the games on it? Are my favorite franchises going to make an appearance?

Price - Will the price of the system be worth it for the amount of games I want? If I can't spend more money on games than the system cost then it's not worth it.

this, i don't care for any additional features like bluray (used it twice) or facebook apps, all i want is a good library of games, which is why i bought pc, wii, 360 and ps3.

What makes me want to buy a new console or handheld game system

1. the reasonable price- its higher than 200 then I'm not going to waste 500 bucks on it

2. The exclusive games. Example: Gamecube: Resident Evil and Resident Evil 4 and that some games were multiplatform

3. the controller- has to be the right size and not too big and clunky. The Nintendo 64 controller was a mess

4. The game library for the system and/or handheld

This gen. was very different then the previos gens. All the systems, minus the Wii, were alot more expensive then before. Because of this I expect much more out of my system if I am to upgrade. Since my two hobbies are movies and video games, the PS3 was an obvious choice for me. Not to mention the fact that I am a huge fan of their exclusives. If I am gonna spend more then 200-300 dollars on a video game system it BETTER offer me MORE then just games. Having my PS3 be my main media player and gaming device means it gets constant use and EASILY justifies the 400 dollars I spent on the 20GB PS3 at launch.

That's what I think. I bought my 60 gig for $600.00 and have never regretted it. I also use it to view photo albums with family and friends through the TV instead of trying to crowed around a PC monitor or hard copy photo album.
