I've seen a lot of threads about switching from console to PC as your primary gaming platform but I'm wondering if any of you have done the opposite. If so what was your reason for making the switch?
Despite having a significantly stronger PC than my PS4, I still use my PS4 more because of the retail games I can borrow for free from my library and the ease of gamesharing. Add that, plus easy split screen Rocket League and Halo MCC on the One and life is good on consoles.
Still use my PC for games otherwise, including MGSV right now.
Who would switch from PC to console? That's like making the life decision to become homeless when you're we'll off...
lmao great analogy.
tired of updating hardware for new games, consoles also had hardware I couldn't get on PC, and friends were getting consoles and consoles were a much better online social space with my friends than gaming on PC

You're not one of those people I see that refuse to push ready for the next match on rocket league are you?!??! Jokes aside thank you for answering.

There has to be at least someone, ever seen the movie Life Stinks?
PC to console?
Hold on, let me put you on hold so I can cancel my date with Jennifer Lawrence so I can get a quick one with Rosie O'Donald...
You'd probably have better luck hooking Jennifer up with Rosie, her being a lesbian and all.....not that there's anything wrong with that.
Friends and ease of use (I'm an it tech by trade and Im getting old, I want an easy gaming life). When I say ease of use I don't meant technically, just it's more comfortable sitting on a couch with the lass rather than hunched over my pc Every night. Especially when you have kids
I've always been a console gamer, but leaned more towards PC gaming when I got into that.
There was one point when I chose not to get a new PC anymore and just stick with consoles. I was really impressed with PS3 and 360 performance and didn't want to spend 1000+ to get the same on PC. I thought console gaming was cheaper, keyword: thought.
Not soon after I really missed the PC specific games, the benefits of PC gaming. For me console will always be a back-up to PC gaming. I'll never switch completely (again)
Exclusives that PC doesn't get starting with Halo3 which got me back into consoles after playing Halo 2.
In my current setup I dont have TV hooked up to my 60" LED or 5.1 surround and cant game on my comfy couch. I may remedy that in my next PC build, but I would still play my consoles and their exclusives and multi plats if my friends wanted to play.
Far more friends I game with game on PSN/Live than Steam.
I still game occasionally on PC, but barley have since PS4/X1 have released.
I didn't switch from PC to Consoles but I switched from Consoles to PC, because of PC specific games like Max Payne, Diablo 2 and Half Life etc 15+ years ago. I had a PC before those games but it could only play games that didn't require cutting edge hardware to play them.
It used to run some PC games but not all of them. When I saw Max Payne trailer that was included inside the CD of another game, I was blown away by it and decided to get a proper Gaming PC. Then I upgraded my PC when Max Payne 2 came out. It's still my most favorite game of all time.
1. couldn't be bothered with upgrading
2. exclusives don't entice me as much
3. don't care about multiplats looking better
Besides that, got Lisa and Undertale to check out.
There is not much reason to switch, I've always have a gaming PC (or several :D) and at least a console or two. I identify as a hermit because PC is and will always be THE GAMING MACHINE but I'm not against playing on consoles either for an exclusive.
These machines are not that expensive, save up a couple months and you can afford them pretty easily. The only thing is time but if you learn to accept that you will NEVER have the time to play ALL games, then you can always manage your time(and expectations) to at least play some of the games that you like to play.
Cut down or even eliminate stupid time wasters like Youtubing (except for game reviews) and facebook and you'll realise you actually have a lot of time to mess around.
It helps ALOT to find a gf and wife that plays games too :D
@digitm64: U get free PS4 games? What job do you have?
Store Manager for Computer and Games store. Company feels staff should know what they are selling. And they use them as incentives for reaching budgets. Still have to pay for PS Plus though :(

Cool man. Fun policy.
I've always been Console/PC/Handheld since 1997, but then once the PS2 was released I played consoles more. Then in 2005 I started playing the PC more often than consoles. These days I just play on PC (have a 3DS but that's a dust collector).

Brilliant
As a life-long PC only gamer up until this gen, I just found there weren't any more great exclusives coming to PC, so I made the switch to console/handheld gaming and never looked back.
You should have done that last gen. There are even less great exclusives coming to consoles this gen.
The only people who do this are people who use PC's alllll the time, at work, and they can't stand the idea of turning on a PC again when they just want to relax. A console can be different enough to enable them to still have a good time. Normally you would never ever ever want to go from PC to console you'd be a crazy person.
Tired of upgrading hardware and then getting to the point you have to build an entirely new system. With consoles, I just have to plunk down $3-400 every 7 to 10 years and I don't have to worry about not being able to run a game.
I don't think I put as much time into gaming as the vast majority of this forum...
@Jorbit: My PC ran out of power for modern games and I really can't be bothered to upgrade it just for games. It runs everything I need it for on a day to day perfectly without breaking sweat. The only reason I need to spend more money is for games.
I bought a PS4 plugged it in and am now guaranteed to be able to play every PS4 game that will come out in the next five or more years.
Sure PC has more power, games are prettier, still more often than not run at double the frame rate but that all depends on if you have a computer powerful enough in the first place. Also cheaper in the long run with Steam sales.
Yet at the end of the day all I want is to buy a game every now and again and have fun playing it. Console allows me to do that currently, my PC won't. Upgrading my PC from its current state is basically the same as buying a new computer.
A computer that can run modern games at reasonable performance is still going to set me back more than my PS4 and that is money I just don't want or need to spend right now.
Other than cracking my fucking head and remaining in a permanent stupor...I'm not sure why I ever would.
@Jorbit: Because I like sitting on my sofa and playing games on my TV.
And you can't do that with a PC, because...?
Back in 2005, I did that. Use to be PC + Nintendo (with a slight mix of Playstation) during Gen 5 and 6. PC + Sega during Gen 4. I was pretty much a young child and kid during these generations, so I didn't have a choice.
My father would bring me computer parts that were being tossed away (good ones at that) at his work and I would build myself a computer and keep it updated with the free stuff during that time. I would also get a console if I did very well in school, which I did. :)
But my father left that job in 2003 and by the time 2005 came my PC was pretty old. Me being in my early teens (work not allowed), I couldn't afford to build a computer from the ground up. I got an Xbox 360 in 2005 for Christmas from my mother and was primarily using that until 2010, where I was able to afford a PS3 and build myself a new gaming PC.
So back to PC I went and use that primarily. Consoles are for the slight exclusives they get.
