For me it's The Order 1886. It's weird, but it's true. I acknowledge the games flaws, but still enjoyed it as an action packed piece of entertainment. Hopefully there will be a sequel. What about you, SW? What is your favorite mediocre game?

Enslaved.
Yeah this comes to mind... It had pretty average gameplay, but I still really enjoyed it.
Fallout New Vegas, and Skyrim were mediocre imo. They were games that just made shrug after playing 20+.
Probably SimCity. It's incredibly limiting and shallow in a lot of ways, but it's still a lot of fun to play. It's also incredibly well presented and polished at what it does. If only the game wasn't so limited by its size.
i was going to say Dark sector but then chozo reminded me of Enslaved.
So yeah, my pick is Enslaved. loved that game
I'll say Kingdom Hearts. I know a lot of users on here think the series is mediocre, even below mediocre, but I love the series. Kingdom Hearts 2 is one of my favorites.
I really enjoy the Fable games, warts and all. Well, the first two. **** the third one.
I agree with this entire sentiment. I hope Fable Legends is just a diversion while they work on a return to form, looking to the original with the Anniversary edition as a starting point. Or maybe a Fable Collection a la Master Chief Collection with the first three Fable games remastered in one package. :P
Well this is interesting.
When I made a very similar topic with different wording about a month ago, OP couldn't seem to wrap his head around that fact that you can enjoy something while at the same time recognizing that it's really not good at all.
Now, The Order comes out, and not only has he opened his eyes to the possibility, he even made a topic about it.
System Wars. Changing lives through inconsistencyâ„¢

I have the utmost respect for this post, TC. Good for you. You enjoy it anyway. It received a 5 which is "mediocre" on GS and I like to try to go by the 10 point system when looking at games. For me Too Human, Kane and Lynch were 2 of them. Guilty pleasures because I know there were so many issues with them but I enjoyed them anyway. Loved the setting and reworking of the Norse mythology, and Kane and Lynch were fun characters that weren't used well. In the end have fun and enjoy playing what you like because its your money, right?

Even that turned me down.....................gotta get in shape
Enslaved.
mediocre gameplay, but it's solid. I like the music and world a lot.
Well said. Actually own it on steam. Maybe I'll run through it again. The combos just didn't vary enough, you know?
Nier
67/68 out of 100 on Metacritic, 5/10 on Gamespot.
Had some incredibly average gameplay, but how all the other parts of the package came together (story, setting, characters, world/level design, music) came together, it more than made up for that average-ness, and then some. The soundtrack alone was a major reason why I loved the game so much and consider it one of the best experiences of the 7th console generation.
I just wish there was a PC version so I wouldn't have to drag out my 360 just to play it (and finding a cheap copy for PS3 these days is hard).
ITT: people listing games commonly thought of as "good" and relabeling them as mediocre.
I don't really play games with mediocre reviews (i.e. 6/10 and below). But I am a fan of the Mega Man X games and I really enjoyed X6, despite it getting shat on by critics.
Final Fantasy XII. Everything was great except the convoluted and off-paced story.
wtf
If everything was great except the story how is it mediocre lol

those arent mediocre games. those are good games....
Agreed. Even the weakest, Fable 3 is above mediocre imo. A 7/10 I say.

My bad. Some of the characters were also shitty (vann) and the dungeons weren't good either. Loved the open world, music, battle and level systems. Story and characters are pretty important for a long assed JRPG. Those things kind of off-set greatness to a level of mediocre.
Various anime games I like and love had mediocre reception. (Bleach Shattered Blade can **** off though)
Gauntlet Legends/Dark Legacy
Star Wars: Force Unleashed series
Final Fantasy XII. Everything was great except the convoluted and off-paced story.

KH2 is a very great game, maybe the first one was mediocre

FFXII is not mediocre. jeezz..
It's got to be Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, love that game. I've replayed the campaigns in single player a lot.
@Blabadon: I take that back. Games that know they're games, can have good stories. Games like your fav, Shadow of the Colossus. It lets you act it out on your own and figure what's going on without a forced narrative.
A simple story of love and sacrifice and consequences.

Word homie. Word.
about half the replies on this thread don't seem to understand the purpose of this thread or they have no idea what mediocre means.
Depends on the context. Nowhere in the OP does it state CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED mediocrity, so that term means something different to everyone.
