What is your favorite innovation of this gen so far?

I think remote play is a very understated feature. Being able to play PS4 games on my Vita is awesome. Playing Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze on the Gamepad is awesome. Why? Sometimes I just don't feel like playing on the TV. It takes too much of my focus. Also, playing on the crapper is good too.

Though I haven't tried sharing, I think it'll be a hit if it's not already. How about you, SW?

Telling your system to record gamplay, or sharing videos of your game by pressing one button is innovative if you ask me.

Clip sharing-Twitch streaming.....love those things.

My favorite innovation is Kinect. It's a shame Microsoft can't see the great potential that Kinect will bring to gaming.

Paid online now dominates the market.

Microtransactions are in every other game

1080p, 60fps was promised, never delivered.

Kinect was shoved down gamers throats, obviously was a failure.

A lot of effort was put into the Vita, most likely a failure

It is now OK to announce season passes and DLC before games are released.

Nintendo is losing money

Sony is losing money

Microsoft is considering dropping Xbox.

I don't necessarily think it's this gen but TrackIR is something I'm impressed with and would like to buy when I'm not so poor.-

I think this is pretty neat. Different views spread out with the choice of within the game and/or different monitors (any combination). I don't think there's any other game that does it.

I can add as many views as I need until the framerate drops to 1fps. He He.

Yeah I'd say this... So far of course.

not really an innovation, but i'm really impressed with the support linux is getting. a big improvement over last gen (to say the least).

The one Im most looking forward to is sharing video clips.

Fully supported Remote Play is probably my favorite "new" feature, and if I ever get a WiiU the tablet streaming feature will be heavily used as well.

By the end of this gen I'm rooting for VR to be my favorite.

The only one that actually innovated something this gen was the wii u...and that went horribly so far.

-PS4 share features (share factory, streaming, Infamous photo mode etc)

-Playroom streaming, live from playstation etc

Funny, for all the talk of PS4 being more of the same, it ended up delivering the most innovation (while still offering the most powerful graphics at the best price)

The best part, the innovations the PS4 brought were all about gaming, features centered purely around gaming....unlike the xbones TV gimicks/kinect gimick/or the Wii U's gamepad gimick.

PS4 FTW -truly is the gamers chosen console....

Sony did a hell of a job with the PS4. Hit all the right notes. For the gamer by the gamer. PS4 is breaking all time sales records for GOOD reason!

Yeah that is awesome, playing on the crapper I mean, lol. When I got a WiiU at release, my barracks roommate made fun of me for playing BLOPS2 in the crapper.

But my favorite is easily the switching from the Olympic hockey games this February to Dead Rising 3 with a word or two. And it was always where I left off. No remotes, switching inputs, nothing. My HDTV listens to me.

There was no innovation this new gen.

Off the top of my head I'd say the wiiu gamepad, and Nintendos attempt to bring back local coop. People haven't tried, or I guess don't seem to care, about this approach to games.

......I like that i dont have to close apps/blurays on ps4.

I liked how Steam welcomed independent devs with open arms and now we can finally see something new and innovative (from those guys) after playing same old stuff for years . Increase in digital distribution was also pretty cool .

I also liked the idea of Steam OS , Mantle and DX 12 . All of these will resolve the most important problem of PC whenever optimizing the game for it , by allowing developers to access low level hardware (and use the very last drop of power from hardware) .

I kinda agree although on the PC side, I still think the images I posted are pretty neat.

Since remote play was already mentioned I will say the ability to listen to all sound through the controller. I can game or watch movies in the living room with any pair of headphones and not disturb everyone else.

Glasses-less 3D brought by the 3DS is the only recent innovation in gaming imo.
