I'm hands down going to say The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay and Assault on Dark Athena tied into that, it continued what Butcher Bay brought to the table and took you back into this dark world.

One of the greatest first person shooters ever made, and honestly one of the most underrated games I ever seen. It sits at a 90 on Metacritic, but I mean from a community perspective, to most people it's like it never happened. Great story, looks fantastic, plays great, a lot of variety to the combat, overall it's an excellent game and without a doubt to me the best movie to game adaptation ever created.

What is yours?

@nyadc: I deleted my post because I misread the topic. I thought it said best movie based on a game.

I could go with countless Star Wars games, but for a game based off a specific movie, then my pick is Batman for the Genesis. I absolutely love that game, and unlike the NES one, it feels like a Batman game and not a Ninja Gaiden clone.

Goldeneye, the N64 version. Some people would say it's aged so poorly to the point it's now bad, I would say these people are wrong. It's one of the few games that remains fun even when you fail horrendously at your objectives, that's gotta be worth something.

I'll give an honorary mention to Aladdin on the SNES. Except for the magic carpet section. No one likes that section.

I own it, I honestly need to play through it again, to be completely honest the Nintendo 64 is what has aged poorly. Most games were 240i, with very select few being 480i with the expansion pack as a requirement.

My PlayStation and Saturn games look fine these days, but playing Nintendo 64 games is pretty painful.

Star Wars Republic Commando, I think I enjoy it more than the prequels (especially EP2 which it feels to be largely based around)

Plus a great many other star wars titles, Rogue Squadron, KOTOR, etc etc

I'm seriously at a blank for anything not star wars... I'm sure there are others I've played but I can't think of them

I share the love for Goldeneye. I even played the Wii one and it was great again, but I'm going to have to roll with The Warriors as my fave.

I actually really enjoyed that Wolverine game on PS3.

Edit: Wanted wasn't that bad either.

There's a bunch, but I'm going to go with Goldeneye because it redefined the FPS genre on Consoles.

Many good games are mentioned already, such as STALKER, GoldenEye, Aladdin and Riddick. I'm going to say a game that is awesome, that not many have played and I know no one is going to mention: Little Nemo: The Dream Master for the NES. It was really hard, but awesome.

Based on the actual films:

Goldeneye 007 (N64)

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (GameCube, PS2, and XBOX) - The co-op in this made it better than the last game

LEGO Lord of the Rings (Wii, PS3, XBOX 360)

LEGO Star Wars II (GameCube, PS2, XBOX, XBOX 360, PC; later appeared on PS3 and Wii with The Complete Saga)

LEGO Harry Potter series (Wii, PS3, XBOX 360, PC)

Expanded from films:

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron series (N64 and GameCube; PC only got the first game)

Star Wars: Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast (PC, GameCube, and XBOX)

Star Wars: KOTOR I and II (PC and XBOX)

007: Nightfire (GameCube, PS2, and XBOX by Eurocom; stay away from the PC version by Gearbox if you want the superior version)

007: Everything or Nothing (GameCube, PS2, and XBOX)

Goldeneye for me(N64), and an honorable mention to Batman Returns(SNES), easily one of the best 2D side scrolling fighters on that system, and captures the feel of the Batman Returns movie quite well. Excellent music too I remember.

Edit: Also very much enjoyed the recent Alien Isolation, and the SNES Alien 3 is also one of my favorites
