What game series needs a comeback or reboot?

There is a goldmine of unused IPs out there. King of Fighters, Darkstalkers, Gex, Glover, Crash Bandicoot, Ape Escape, F-Zero, Wipeout, Rune Factory, Skies of Arcadia, Megaman, Pac-Man, F.E.A.R, Darksiders, Adventure Island, Bomberman, Syphon Filter, 007, Conker, Prince of Persia, Lost Planet, and a crap ton more!

Instead of spending millions making overhyped cruddy new IPs like The Order: 1886 and Destiny, why not just return to the classics? Where is Half-Life 3? Where is Earthbound? Why haven't we gotten a new next gen Soul Calibur?

For reboots, I'd like to see a 3rd person shooter/3D platformer Megaman game made by Platinum Games. Imagine it...That would be awesome. Also, something good needs to be done with Sonic...Like now. Oh, and an online multiplayer Pac-Man, and a Pac-Man World 4...Just saying.

@inb4uall: Sega has one more chance with the PS4/Xbox One Sonic game. (If it happens.) If that one sucks, then all hope is lost. Sell the IP to somebody who will use it right. Nintendo maybe.

shenmue. reboot it with gameplay mechanics that dont suck and upgraded graphics and an actual ending.

Metroidcould do with a "Zero Mission" reboot for consoles, in the guise of an Other M like game, but without the divisive exposition. Something that opens more people up to the franchise in a way to make it more commercially viable for Nintendo. Or perhaps just a new 2D sequel with the art of Ori and the Blind Forest.

Syphon Filteris a highly underused stealth-action series that could easily do with a proper reboot that would have me considering a PS4 purchase (the only thing to really make me consider it at this point).

Prince of Persia 2008 desperately needs a sequel where the Prince and Elika fight against the forces of Ahriman. That Zoroastrian mythology goodness was an achievement Ubisoft has not really matched to this day in any other game they've made.

As for Half Life 3... it's coming. I can guarantee it at this point now that Source 2 is a thing. Portal 3 isn't really out of the question either. It would be dumb of VALVe not to make another sequel. Hell, a "New Orange Box" with Half Life 3, Portal 3 and Left4Dead 3 would make them rich beyond their wildest dreams.

Modern developers will ruin those games just like how they ruined Thief and Max Payne 3... But I'd like to see Dino Crisis, Freelancer, Soldier of Fortune, Prince of Persia, Megaman, No one lives forever etc return.

Without a doubt, Twisted Metal deserves a comeback on PS4. Twisted Metal back on PS1 revolutionize car combat is what that series got us into car combat in the first place so that series shouldn't die.

I'd also like to see a single player Phantasy Star 4 with updated graphics. It could really be something.

The 1st and 2nd Metal Gear games need some limelight on next gen. People seem to only remember the MGS games. If Capcom wasn't so craptastic these days I'd want them to reboot Onimusha as well.

And whoever said Eternal Darkness I co-sign. That game should be remade or just enhanced even and brought to a wider audience like RE remake was. Too great a game to let be buried in obscurity with the Gamecube.

It was mentioned Microsoft or Rare but who knows who is actually working on it. This is the game that would really work well in todays environment. It just needs a solid engine. DLC could even prove useful and with tools visible in Project Spark I can see a creation tool included too.

Theif needs a proper reboot or a sequel.

A Jak&Daxter PS4 remake would be awesome! I also agree with an SSX reboot or a Tricky remake (preferably the latter).

I think Sonic deserves more chances, but Sega doesn't... Sonic is an icon and it's a perfectly fine premise for a videogame, but Sega has no fucking clue what they're doing...

Resident Evil really needs a HARD Reboot.
