What do you consider a "failure"

I think failure has all to do with the hype of the game. If a new south park game came out and got a 4.0, i would consider it a failure in a few games but not realy, because south park games normally get around a 3.0 so a 4.0 is a "success".

If LBP, got a 7.0, i would consider it a failure. Even though 7.0 is a good rating, it is being hyped for AAA (dont give me this AAAA crap) so in my eyes it would have "failed"

Anything above an 8.0 shouldnt be called a fail, because it is a great rating imo.

So what do you consider a "failure" among games?

If I didn't play the game yet, 6.0 is a failure and games like Sonic that get around 4.0 are epic failures.

7.0 is okay.

A game is a Failure when it fails at what it set out to do.

If a game sets out to push the boundarys of interactive story telling, and ends up getting a fairly low score or has a poor story then it failed. If a game sets out to provide fun arcade action and does so dispite the score its a successe

In the real world, its whatever game I play and feel is a failure, like GeoW. Just not my thing, but I can respect that Epic took a lot of time and care with the game to make it as good as it can be for the type of game that it is. just not my type.

But here on system wars, You bet your sweet bippy that whatever game gets a lower score than what the majority hyped it to get IS and WILL BE considered a failure, flop, and will be used for ownage.

System Wars != Real Life. So here, games like R&CF, Too Human, Spore, and Infinite Undiscovery are unplayable, and pathetic attempts by their fanboys to try and make them out to be great games when all they are is flops. They probably won't even sell over 100 copies.

when IRL (in real life for those of you less internet-savvy people) They are all fine games if you're into that kind of thing, and they will sell just fine. The only people that base their REAL LIFE purchases off of one website's reviews are blind fanboys, and/or extreme casuals :/

But this is comon knowledge. I don't know why i'm still explaining this.

A game I like is not a failure, period.

It seems like a lot of people here spend more time checking forums and reading game previews then playing games and thus are always having their expectations dashed.

Gamers have become a very, very jaded lot.

assassins creed had couple of more problems than i expected but man did i love that game.

I don't ever consider a game a failure.

Despite how bad the controls are, how bad it flopped, how messed up the camera is, how anything thats bad a game it is, I still care for every single game out there.

A game is only a failure if it hasn't exsisted yet.

And even then, how do you know its a failure? :P

A game that straight up doesn't deliver on what it promises is a complete failure as far as I'm concerned. If it scores less than I hoped it would, then its just a simple dissapointment.

Not really. Considering how easy it is to get a 10 these days, anything less is really a failure. I don't want to waste my time with those crappy games. I'd rather just play one of my 10-rated games again. After all, games like GTAIV, Ocarina of Time and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 have much more replay value than any floppy 9-rated games.
