What Are Some Underrated Platformers?

Uhm.. I mean, underappreciated... not exactly talked about a lot. That stuff.

I'll go with Battleblock Theater. That game is stupid fun. Great soundtrack. Great humor. Great level design that infuriates wolverine. WE STILL GOTTA FINISH THE HARDEST LEVELS, MAN AHHH YEAHHH

Seriously though, the game is fucking cool.

By far the goofiest game I've ever played... It really takes the edge off some of the trial and error issues.... But the game really shines in Co-Op... I love when a developer makes dedicated Co-Op experience instead of just dumping the 2nd player in level designed for one player.... Thats what I disliked about Rayman.

Hmm... I never played Splosion Man coop. It sounds fun though. Blowing dudes to steaks cooperatively. Only a mad man would find that boring.

i dont know if the 'new super mario bros' series is underrated or not but it certainly doesnt get mentioned as much as the 3d mario games but the game is awesome.

Its almost most like Portal 2's Co-Op.... Its a different game alltogether... Theres more emphasis on Puzzles, theres a cool Co-Op Syncronized Sploding Mechanic.

Sonic Unleashed on the Wii. Don't know how the other versions are, but this one is pretty fun and werehog sections are pretty decent.

I could be wrong, this is the only gaming site I really visit these days... but it always seems like the Trials games just don't get enough credit.

It is... Its essentially a Makeover. Its the same substance with alot more flare.

New Super Mario U is VERY under appreciated.

I think it's because people had their fill. Too samey, too soon.

Personally, I thought it was great. NSMBW was awesome, but the U version took it to the next level. Unfortunately, being the 4th game in such rapid succession (even if it was one per platform) kind of killed excitement. Had it been the first one to release, I think people would have gone ape shit over it though.

Also Super Luigi U.. THAT was fun as hell. Really enjoyed the bumped up challenge.

NiGHTS into Dreams, Rocket Knight Adventures I & II, Sparkster, Ristar, Mega Turrican, Mega Man ZX, Shinobi III, Castlevania: Bloodlines, etc.

If I can only recommend one though, it would be NiGHTS, as it is the perfect blend of terrific gameplay, challenge, and dare I say, "artistic" design. I am utterly convinced that if it came out today as an indie game or Sony exclusive, it would receive AAA scores and GOTY's left and right.

The HD remake is on the PC, 360, and PS3, so there's no excuse not to play it.
