I think the biggest one in most recent times was buying SimCity (2013) at launch. I did enjoy the beta, but should've heeded all of the warnings lol. Did get a $20 pre-order bonus though. Another one would be spending too much money on steam sales. What about you, SW? What are some of your gaming regrets?

Buying Infamous: SS (I firmly believe that they should have stopped after Infamous 2)

Selling my old NES with the huge library of games I had :\

putting so much Money into my PS store account, it will take a while before something I am interrested in will come out anyways.

having over 500 games for my PC, and only finished around 200 of them.

Not buying that 64 Gig memory Card for my vita when I had the chance, swapping mem Cards is a pain in the ass.

Buying an XboxOne on launch. It's not a bad system at all, but the amount of games for it is lackluster for me and the price tag was substantial. I could have waited a year and taken advantage of that deal they just had honestly. Oh well, live and learn.

Not buying ten, $50 copies of the Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence Limited Edition when I had the chance (just got my first credit card and pre-ordered my copy through Gamestop.com) to resell later for $500 USD sealed.

I could agree with spending too much on Steam sales. I haven't done so in years, and have beaten almost all the games I own on Steam, but I'm still recovering.

Another related to the shock games.

Playing system shock 2 after the bioshock series. SS2 was so good it made me hate the whole bioshock series.

Not buying sealed copies of various games only to resell for much higher prices 10 years later.
Lost Wario Land 2 at a Hotel.
Left all my Wii U games at home, resulting in a Wii U that has no games to play.
Being late into the Guild Wars 1 train.
Being hyped for Guild Wars 2. And buying it as well, wow, what a terrible game.
Disregarding Mount&Blade thinking it is just another lousy ARPG.

Selling my Ninja Gaiden Sigma PS3 copy... :(

Buying Destiny at launch (I like the game but its not worth full price, especially for those that dont have PS+ like me. I would buy it down the line though, and I only bought it early cause I could get a 15 euro discount by pre-ordering it. But yeah, I was fooled by the hype, I admit it).

I think these are my most recent biggest regreats

Amazing music (seriously, might be the best soundtrack in the series), excellent story (an actual good story, yes), great characterization, incredible dungeon design. I'd say go for it if you're a series fan, yeah.

I'll have to see what Mcshea hated about it so much, I was never crazy with the art style but the positives you list seem to outweigh the negatives, I do like Zelda.

buying NFS Rivals (on pc) at more that 50% of its cost

Buying Crysis 3 for near full price

not getting into Dawn of War 1's multiplayer back in its day

Not spending more time on World in Conflict's multiplayer when it was still active

buying Beyond Two Souls for full price

The issues are horrible pacing (like, it takes six hours just to get to the first dungeon, there are repeated fetch quests that grind the game to a halt, there's backtracking all over the place), tacked on motion controls for everything but combat (seriously, you fly your bird by, I shit you not, flapping your Wiimote at the screen, you swim the same way, you control your dives using motion controls, you roll bombs the same way, control flight of the Beetle the same way, contort your hands into all sorts of shapes to get keys to fit into doors, and so on), complete lack of an overworld with a sectioned design that takes away any sense of discovery, and probably most offensively, repeated tutorials that like to treat you like a brain damaged human being that flat out give away the solutions to many puzzles.

Maybe the negatives aren't outweighed entirely, lol.

Fucking hate the sound of that gimmicky motion crap. Lack of discovery and puzzles, well puzzles have never really been difficult in any zelda title so I guess I can overlook that.

Yep, those plus the pacing plus the lack of overworld exploration ruined the game for me. Honestly, play A Link Between Worlds, it's a better game in every possible way. That said, Skyward Sword has its own merits and its own place in the Zelda canon, so it wouldn't hurt to at least try it out.

I honestly regret buying an XBOX 360 last gen. Other than the 3DO I have never regretted a console purchase before, even my Atari Jaguar because I loved some of its games like AVP, Iron Soldier and Tempest 2000, but the 360 was just a dust collector for me.

I didnt buy an XBONE, so I dont regret buying one :D

I was about 6 years old, I had just saved enough money to buy a NES and my mom took me to Toys r us to buy it. WHile at toys r us I saw that both double dragon and kung fu were out on Atari 2600 and reasoned that eventually every Nintendo game would come out on Atari anyway so it was not worth buying the new system, I instead opted to buy those 2 Atari ports instead of the nes that I had saved for.

Worse than CD-i, 3DO, Game.com?

Anyway, it would be these...

-Playing Bleach: Shattered Blade (I generally like a LOT of anime/manga games, but screw this one)

-Disregarding SMG1 before I played it

-Even playing the Gamestop demo of Sonic 06

-Buying Batman: Dark Tomorrow

-Playing Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows

My biggest gaming regret is buying Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness (PS2) at launch. One of my favorite series of the PS1 days and the trailers made this look like a phenomenal leap in terms of graphics and story telling for the series. Both of those were true but the gameplay and glitches waere so bad that I returned it 3 days later. When Lara starts floating up off of the screen there's a serious problem.

The regret is that I believe the hype enough that to buy the game at launch I had to eat mac and cheese and ramin noodles for a month straight. I was in college and pretty damn poor. After that much pasta I was constipated for at least two weeks... all for the shittiest game in the series. Yes, pun intended.

BUT I do regret buying a PSP. I could never get use to the horrible controls.

@GhoX:

Watch for Tree of Savior. It was from the creator of Ragnorak. Looking to be pretty dang good. Hoping a US release goes well. Thats one of my last hopes in the MMO world.

As for regrets:

giving away my Ps2 and all the guncon games I had with my old CRT tv. Man... those old Time Crisis games were nice.
