Want Ps4 but all my friends are getting Xbox One

You can't exactly make this decision in a vacuum though. What your friends choose is a major factor in selection of a next gen console for social multiplayer gamers, especially in the beginning of the gen where there are very few exclusives to set the PS4 apart.

Sure, its more fun to play games with friends, but that depends if you are more interested in PS4 games or Xbone games

If you like Xbox One games and Kinect, then go ahead buy the Xbone

If you really want play exclusive games for PS4 but many of your friends plan to buy Xbone, then decide which one is more important

B:And, assuming you're referring to the COD/ Dead Rising 3 fiasco, like most well adjusted gamers I would assume the friends response would be along the lines of "Wow, that kinda sucks. Good thing resolution isn't the be all end all, and even though it's not ideal for the One to be behind at this point in time, that hasn't stopped a less powerful console in each of the past gens for literally a couple of decades from coming out on top."

The most powerful console has never been the cheapest before. Your argument holds no ground.

The only thing 360 had going for it was better multiplats and party chat. With those advantages gone Xbone has nothing in its favor. Not one single thing. It is 50% weaker, $100 more, has less games, inferior multiplats, inferior controller, forced gimmicks, ugly design, ads, paywalls for everything. Only someone completely scared of change would stick with Xbone over PS4.

If a sheep jumps a cliff will you follow? your friends will buy the Box720p, be very disappointed in couple of months and join you on ps4. i also have dumb as fk friends who stick to MS and its impossible to move them over... when you ask why the fk are you buying a system that is weak, has no 1st party, cost higher and can only spam ads in 1080p they always bring Titanfail so i guess that garbage sure will sell consoles.

Playing alone is not that fun, even in 1080p.

Most of my friends are doctors, lawyers, professors, and Mark Cerny . As such, they have extremely high IQs and thus chose the PS4 as their console of choice. So no, I do not have that problem TC.

conveniently all my friends rolled with a PS3 this ending gen. Which was odd, because back when I was in school anyone who'd talk gaming usually owned an Xbox 360.

So I assume they'll be hopping on the PS4 bandwagon once the time comes.

What they say they want, and what they will actually do are two different things.

I know, I had friends tell me they were getting a PS3 way back in 2005-2006 and they bought a Wii or 360. Same for the Dreamcast/PS2/Xbox/Gamecube gen, and prior to that, the N64/PSone/Saturn gen. I would get what you like and see where the dominoes/dominos fall down.

Many times they are using their current generation experiences to dictate the future purchase, and that's not always the best strategy. Many times they are just ill informed and don't realize prices, features, and things and just say they are going to do something without actually knowing what they will do. I do have a ton of friends, so this is anecdotal.

In my case, many of these friends decided to buy something other than what they said they would buy. Many were not early adopters, and waited a year(s) to decide. Other friends actually did buy one machine, only to trade it in for another a year later. You live and base your decisions on a few friends, you have to go with what you like.

Be a leader, not a follower. Explain why you are doing things, maybe they just don't know. Some people I know thing Activision's Call of Duty, EA's FIFA/Battlefield, and Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed are Xbox Exclusives just due to marketing and their own ignorance. Those are all titles you can find on other platforms with ease. Have a conversations with them. Talk price, features, games, online, lolresolutions, etc. Fun convos I think. Maybe you'll decide to go Xbone, maybe Wii U, maybe PS4. Whatever works for you.

@Redick_is_Magic: I'd get the one your friends are getting since you'll want to play games like Destiny, Titanfall and the Division with them.

Plus a bonus, you won't have to deal with the hideous abomination known as the PS4 UI

Of all my RL friends on 3 are on my friends list on PSN despite the fact that a lot of them now own PS3s, on gaming sites such as these you actually get to meet gamers who are far more like-minded and share your love of similar genres with whom you can play the games you actually want to play with.

Enjoy your new xbox one brah.... It will be a great place to game with friends for many years to come. I personally went ps4 out of the gate this time around but id be happy with either.... Choose whichever console will bring you the most happiness to start the gen.... Its gonna be a good year before we see these consoles flex their muscles anyway.

I don't know anybody with a Wii U, I don't know anybody that is getting an Xbone. Everybody seems to be wanting a PS4.

if you don't get an X1 your friends that do will strengthen their peer bonding ties without you, you'll get increasingly marginalized to where your peer support is limited and it'll take an emotional toll on you where you go all emo and shit and nobody likes you... so think long and hard about this, you could still get an X1, then supplement a PS4 afterwards

The only logical conclusion I can come to is that you don't have any friends, because nobody is getting the XBOX ONE.
