It has been estimated that PS4 sold 66 per cent more units than Xbox One in the US in November.

Michael Pachter has said in his most recent investor note that he believes PS4 sold 1.25m consoles in the region throughout the month and that Xbox One sold 750k.

Note that PS4 was released in the US on November 15th, giving it a week more on the market than Xbox One which launched on November 22nd.

If correct, that 66 per cent margin mirrors what was seen in the UK during the console’s respective first weeks – Xbox One sold 150k units while PS4 managed 250k, a 66 per cent difference.

Pachter added that Wii U is expected to have suffered significantly as a result of the launches, with hardware sales falling 65 per cent year-on-year. Xbox 360 and PS3 sales are predicted to have fallen 44 per cent and 28 per cent respectively.

Hrmm, will the cows proclaiming pachter is always wrong suddenly find him a credible source... lets wait and see, shall we.

who did not expect this?

hell the 360 staying even with the ps3 last gen was easily the biggest shocker of last gen.

nobody saw that shyt coming.

and now with sony not being completely incompetent for the entire 1st half of a gen there is almost no way ms will keep up.

LOL analyst.

We ALL know PS4 demolished XBone.. Well maybe not all of us. @blackace and lem crew are still hopeful

However, I'll just wait for NPD to burry lems.

50% more powerful 50% more sales. I see a correlation...

#14 Edited by clr84651 (5515 posts) -

That's interesting math! I get 40% when I divide those.

66% more would be 425,000 X1 vs 1,250,000 PS4.

#15 Edited by chikenfriedrice (10589 posts) -

I don't believe most sane people believe the X1 will outsell the PS4...has a more expensive console ever outsold a cheaper one? X1 just needs to sell well, not outsell the PS4.

#16 Posted by Scipio8 (696 posts) -

Cheaper and launched a week earlier so no brainer. It will be interesting to see the numbers year ending.

#17 Edited by blue_hazy_basic (28033 posts) -

As the XB1 basically only had 1 week vs 2 wks for the PS4 and costs $100 more, I hardly find this shellshocking news ....

You really want an answer to this question?

Do I really need to link you the thread with the article about the One outselling the PS4 on Black Friday and all the people ready to hand Microsoft the victory in the US? Or can you find it yourself.

#19 Posted by megaspiderweb09 (3686 posts) -

@blue_hazy_basic: Very good point actually but we need to remember the PS4 sold out, so the Xbox one had more position to impress. The Bloomberg coverage of the launch event showed the Xbox One still had left over stock, albeit few

Xbox can't go home, because the US belongs to PS4.

then why are you posting here?

Kind of an odd thing to come into a thread that you don't give a shit about and post. If you don't care, there are hundreds of other threads aren't there? Or did you just really need some attention.

Seriously, Pachter is even less credible that VGChartz.

The X1 has sold 60% as many as the PS4 according to those numbers. That's 40% more. Not 66% more.

What percentage of 1,250,000 is 750,000? The answer is 60% as much. That means the PS4 sold 40% more.

You can't sell more than "sold out". MS and Sony have both sold every console they have made (XB1 % PS4). The actual sales numbers, regardless of how they go, are kind of meaningless because there is a shortage of supply.

If there were millions still on the shelves, that would be another story.

I can confirm that is accurate. Me and 8 of my friends returned the xbone yesterday because we had never had such a sh1tty experience gaming in our lifetime. I mean gaming is supposed to be fun not a torturous road to hell.

250,000 is %66 more than 150,000

1.25m is %66 more than 750k

Do avoid the (apparently) heavy math, I'll try doing it this way...

what is 2/3 of 150k and 750k? 100k and 500k respectively.

2/3 is %66, so add those results to the x1 sales numbers and see if they add up...

Does that simplify things for you?

425,000 is 66% less than 1,250,000. 1,250,000 is 300% more than 425,000. When working with percentages, the words "more" and "less" are very important.

I understand how they got 66%. 500,000 more PS4s is 66% of the total X1s sold of 750,000.
