UC4 vs Rise of hte Tomb Raider graphics comparison

Since these two games are the closest related in the same third person action, adventure genre, I figured it would be interesting to see how their graphics would compare, ROTTR is a pretty good looking game, even on Xbone, but today I'll be using the PC screens to pit them against UC4. I understand 4k is possible on PC but not all of us has 4k screens so for the sake of convenience all shots will be 1080p. Do remember all cutscenes in ROTTR are pre rendered while fully real time in UC4, so for now I wont include them, just the gameplay shots.

UC4 definitely looks better to me.

UC4 wins easily.

ROTR still looks good but Naughty Gods are on a different level.

RotTR is a very grainy looking game. I'm talking about the Xbone version because that's the one I got.

I'd say they are in the same league with different strengths and weaknesses.

And here come the pc morons who deny my gameplay shots as cutscene shots when they haven't even played the game, cherry pick some more bad shots of UC4 and see if you can prove any points. Why don't we use the best shots of both games instead, or are you too afraid to use them? Just because there are better onesout there doesn't mean they are from cutscenes lol. Most of the assets in TR are fairly low res, clearly showing its cross gen root.

@sts106mat: I stated numerous time that I'm waiting for the PS4 version of this. I recorded this footage just for you. lol

The biggest issue of TR on XBone is the shader aliasing, that along can cause the whole frame to look crap especially in foliage laden scenes. Compared to UC4, you'll see a stark contrast of how clean and bullshot looking UC4 is.

Tomb raider has better lighting, hair and runs at 60fps. Wins by default. It also plays better which is the most important thing.

It comes down to design choices and art direction.

I haven't played UC4 yet so cant comment on that, but RotTR Pc ultra looks magnificent, I've played and finished it, I doubt UC4 can look better, especially with everything running at 60fps.

Wasn't trying too. You know TR is grainy but you just don't want to admit it.

TR looks stunning occasionally, still waiting for that PS4 port.

Uncharted 4 isn't even the best looking game on its own system.

@gpuking: Uncharted 4 if we're going by Xbox 1 standards for Tomb Raider. Either way, Rise of the Tomb Raider had more stiff animations and felt a little more buggy than Uncharted 4. So I give Naughty Dog the edge for better animation.
