So the creative director just said the ps4 watchdogs will look like e3 demo, they have probably shown x1 version lol link below is e3 demo

So it'll look like the footage that was already a downgrade? Neato.

#3 Posted by silversix_ (13868 posts) -

That DC lol they failed hard and are now scared shitless because Infamous is demolishing their downgraded game graphically

and we are supposed to be happy with that? it's still downgraded compared to the 2012 reveal.

WE WANT 2012 OR WE BURN THE STREETS.

Seriously I've said this before and I'll say it again, I still think the game looks amazing and I will be buying it regardless.

#7 Edited by gameofthering (10072 posts) -

Should have just kept it like E3 2012.

#8 Edited by iwasgood2u (701 posts) -

I was looking forward to the graphics that was shown during e3. Graphics was mindblowing and next gen like but if it really had a major downgrade then sorry not buying it. Felt mislead from e3. They should have kept it real with everyone.

Should have just kept it like E3 2012.

It's no surprise that was probably footage running off a beast PC. Yeah they claimed it was PS4 footage, but it's not the first time a company has lied.

Bump mapping is almost entirely left out (I'm talking about streets themselves or pavements). In 2014! This is a disgrace. Chronicles of Riddick had it in 2004 on the first frigging Xbox! And the lights were illuminating so beautifully from the bump-mapped streets especially while rain was falling in this 2012 build...

d-damage control

#12 Posted by PAL360 (26622 posts) -

The 2012 footage was clearly scripted, and probably not even in-engine. I think that car accident was too well done to be in real time!

#13 Posted by Xaero_Gravity (8694 posts) -

When did Ubi say the 2012 footage was PS4 footage? The PS4 wasn't even announced at the time that footage was shown.

#14 Posted by HaloinventedFPS (4699 posts) -

I doubt it

What this E3 2013 matters when game is released in 2014 and shitty grahpics???

#16 Posted by FoxbatAlpha (6022 posts) -

Oh Ubi. That is the smell of shit.

Playstation twitter confirmed latest footage is from PS4 lol pwn3d. The game looks good enough to me though. Some people expect way too much from next gen consoles and Ubisoft gets the blame for not living up to E3 2012 reveal which was running on PC.

oh boy, Watch Dog looks stunning AND it's an open world game making it even more impressive. Stop judging the game from crappy gifs and screen captures.

#20 Posted by DocSanchez (1473 posts) -

Like I said earlier: We will see.

There's so much back and forth conjecture that there really is no point overreacting either way yet.

A better gif, If this looks bad people should quit gaming

I guess you never played any open world game on PC.

its not stunning and amazing for open world. I guess its for you because you played only console games.

Its Watching Dogs(first image, PS4 footage) vs GTA 4 and Skyrim

Mod bullshots, if you mod Watch Dogs on PC you'll get even better results.

Can't see no HUD, obvious bullshots are obvious son. GTA IV first shot looks so bad and lol @ second pic, there are no NPCs, just empty roads with one detailed car and a few buildings. It's like using console tech demo's to make a point.

#27 Posted by foxhound_fox (87318 posts) -

This is becoming a PR nightmare.

The game will never recover commercially after this.

The delay already ruined it's chances at runaway success. It was one game that was on almost everyone's list in October last year. Now I see only a handful of people even talking about the game positively.

#28 Posted by R4gn4r0k (16249 posts) -

Why would we believe them when they were caught lying before ?

You didn't take ingame screenshots, they're all off the internet....

Why do people try and lie like that, you do realise you can just right click and hit search google for this image?

#30 Edited by o0squishy0o (2754 posts) -

The biggest problem is the lighting. Watching that video it seems only certain areas things have shadows. Lighting is a HUGE part of convincing someone that something looks good/real/believable. Right at the start there is NOTHING that is casting a shadow.

The materials/textures would look so much better if everything was self-shadowing. I know that has a HUGE overhead but it needs to be seriously looked at. Having nice wet looking bollards are all well and good but when that doesn't "connect" with the pavement it just looks bad.

* Point proven, check out the PC modded shots, everything has a shadow. Remove the shadows you have the same problem the above video has. Nothing else is the problem, is just the lighting.

GTA5 PC, PS4 and X1 will look better.

Haha, wow! You never cease to amaze me, SW. You know you can remove the HUD and they're clearly in game. And you can also disable NPCs and traffic if you want to take a shot. Or you can even have them on for your screenshot. That's the power of choice, my friend.

Wasn't E3 2013 demo already a downgrade?

Yes the game looks last gen now. This is what the newest build of watchdogs looks like on PS4.

Seriously I've said this before and I'll say it again, I still think the game looks amazing and I will be buying it regardless.

Yeah, this whole thing is pathetically stupid. The 2012 E3 demo was being played on a PC. The next gen consoles weren't even announced yet.

I've compared the PS4 gameplay videos from last year to this new trailer and I have found no objective evidence of a downgrade.

There has been a downgrade from the E3 2012 PC demo, but that was only to be expected.

but why single it out and say no downgrade happened when it did happen? we shouldn't talk as if what ubisoft is doing ok and should be overlooked.

Well it's not really, but it's not surprising. Honestly, I was excited when Watch_dogs was first announced, but now with delays and recent trailers I'm concerned it will be mediocre

GTA V is a jaggies infested 720p mess. That screenshot does not represent the actual game but you can still see how less detailed the main character is and in general there is far less detail in the environment. Look at the grass and trees in Watch Dogs and compare it to GTA V shot. You have to blind to not see the difference.

Show me those shots with HUD then. Are NPCs disabled in that GTA IV shot? Go ahead and enable them.

GTAV is one of the most impressive games of last gen, and Watch Dogs already look better running at 1080p. I would say it looks like an early next gen game, and thats what it is.
