Tournament Mode Coming to Smash Bros. July 31

Tournament mode will also let you conduct, schedule, and host online tournaments.

In addition, DLC stages Hyrule Castle and Mushroom Castle will both be made available on July 31 as well.

So Nintendo continues to rehash old stages/characters?

Tournament mode has been a long time coming. I've had multiple Smash parties and we've been desperate for this; glad I'll have this by the next time I get a group together. And having these "legacy" stages will be great to come back to.

I'm just still surprised that we're in a state of not knowing about any DLC characters. Are they waiting for the ballot to be done or are we thinking characters may be surprises now like Roy and Ryu were?

@Zassimick: What exactly is this tournament mode? I thought people just turned off all items and just picked specific stages with no affects to keep thing balanced and competitive.

Maroxad is correct. They've been working on the tournament mode for a while but they wanted to make sure everything worked online before they released it. Really, it should have been in Smash at release.

I'm glad that continuing to update the game though, and now that we have a working tournament mode for online that could be pretty great for a System Wars tourney sometime...?

Yep, but not on system wars, on PC. I don't think it's a SW material if you're trying to set up a tourney in SW. I just want to have some fun with some Gamespot members by playing 5v5 match in Dota 2 and post a replay video and repeat. I'm sure it will be fun and a good way to get know Gamespot members more than ever. This stuff will make Gamespot more fun to visit but nazi moderator smashed his hammer on me by 2 minutes after I posted a thread about it. *Shrugs*

Pretty sweet feature to add, ill try it out when we get it.

I don't know for certain why the mods would close a thread when you're trying to set up a tourney, but it may be because it wasn't a thread that necessarily promoted discussion that was relevant to System Wars. Maybe on the PC board it would have worked better?

That being said, posting it in the Lounge first off or working with a moderator to make a possible sticky thread or to see what you could do to organize such an event would probably be a little bit of a better option. I'm sure any of the moderators would be happy to talk with you about what could be done to organize an event like that for System Wars members.

I could be wrong though, I've never tried. :P
