Top five PS4 exclusive games to look forward to

The PlayStation 4 got its first major exclusive release of 2015 with The Order 1886. Regardless of what you think of the game, it will be the start of a big wave of titles that can only be played on Sony’s current-gen console. So what are the five PS4 exclusive games to look forward to after The Order 1886? Find out with our rankings below.

First off, let’s talk about a few PS4 exclusives that missed out on the top five. There are a few games that we absolutely can’t wait for but know too little about to make us feel as excited as the other exclusive releases. These titles are Horizon (rumored new IP from Guerrilla Games), Hotshots Golf, God of War, Gran Turismo 7, Shadow of the Beast, MLB: The Show 16, The Last of Us 2 (heavily rumored but not yet officially announced) in addition to the Ratchet & Clank reboot. Also, Persona 5 which can be seen below.

There are also a few other games that we are excited for that just missed out in being on our top five list. One of which is Alienation, a shooter from the developers behind Super Stardust HD and Resogun. Another PSN game to keep an eye on is Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, a new open-world exploration project from the same studio behind Dear Ester. Finally, turn-based strategy fans should also check out Disgaea 5. With all that said, you can find our top five most anticipated PS4 exclusives following the release of The Order 1886 below.

5. UNTIL DAWN

The journey has been a little rough for Until Dawn as it was announced originally for the PlayStation 3 at Gamescom 2012 with an expected 2013 release. The project ended up being delayed and moved to the PlayStation 4. Fortunately, the development team took the extra time to take advantage of the Killzone Shadow Fall engine and beef up the visuals. In terms of gameplay, you can expect a mixture of teen slasher survival horror with gameplay that focuses heavily on quick time events and branching paths.

If you play it with an open mind, Until Dawn will most likely be a pleasant surprise.

4. THE TOMORROW CHILDREN

The Tomorrow Children is the latest quirky project from the developer responsible for the PixelJunk series. The new IP is somewhat similar to Minecraft in that you can gather resources. Of course, there are also several different elements that makes The Tomorrow Children completely unique. One of which is the giant monsters that will appear and attack your city if you choose not to defend it. There is also a community aspect where other players also contribute for the greater good. Lastly, the game’s visual style and impressive lighting make it a complete standout compared to most other exclusives.

The Tomorrow Children should be released later in 2015.

3. RIME

It’s hard to believe that Team Ico has not released a new game in nearly a decade (with The Last Guardian still nowhere to be seen). Fortunately, Sony has a new release coming up, Rime, that has a similar vibe. As a boy, you get to explore several open-ended islands filled with creative puzzles and environmental challenges. It is also visually stunning as its style is a mixture of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and Studio Ghibli movies. This game should be an excellent change of pace when compared to most PS4 games that rely heavily on high-octane action.

2. BLOODBORNE

As good as Dark Souls 2 was, a lot of the fans ended up feeling somewhat disappointed in the sequel as the main director of the franchise, Hidetaka Miyazaki, only acted as the supervisor. Fortunately for fans of PS4 exclusives, he is returning to his directorial role with Bloodborne.

The spiritual successor still shares a lot of elements that made the previous installments great: punishing but fair difficulty, creative multiplayer integration and satisfying combat. With that said, some changes have been made to increase the pace of the game as the shields are less effective than before while a new health regain mechanic allow players to heal by defeating enemies.

With a great art style to boot, Bloodborne will most likely end up being a cornerstone exclusive for the PS4.

1. UNCHARTED 4 : A THIEF’S END

Naughty Dog grew into one of the best game developers last gen with the Uncharted series and The Last of Us. With that said, the development for Uncharted 4 : A Thief’s End as been a little bumpy as the two main directors for the project left the studio last year.

Fortunately, the changes haven’t impacted the game in a negative way based on what we see so far. Naughty Dog expanded the combat by giving Nathan Drake some new abilities (such as being able to use a grappling hook and sliding while shooting). Exploration has also been opened up as you can now tackle side objectives in addition to following the main path.

When you look at it this way, there isn't really that much coming to PS4. Just sayin.

Uncharted 4. Not interested in Bloodborne. The rest is low budget garb.

RIME is probably not coming in 2015 anyway, so

I didn't mentions Yakuza 0, Silent Hill, Deep Down, Last Guardian, Agent, and the other sure hitters. E3 will definitely deliver as well.

Don't forget Shenmue 3 and Half Life 3

Sillent Hills is extremely unlikely to be exclusive

Deep Down doesn't have a release date yet with chances pointing to a 2016 launch, and will probably end up on pc anyway

I was just doing some reading on that game. The beta was delayed until 2015 (they hope) and after the E3 absence last year it might not be looking good for a release anytime soon.

What's wrong with until dawn, and the order. Games don't need to be open world to be fun. I loved Heavy Rain, Beyond 2 Souls, Telltale's Walking dead, game of thrones and the remake of Grim Fandango.... And older games in a similar vein like Dreamfall the longest Journey , and adventure games from before most of the complaining lems were even born or in diapers.

Games can be a lot of things and art and cinema is apart of that. There is room for both, which this "hate campaign" on cinematic or adventure games... people don't get. If Until Dawn was multiplat on Xbox - PC, these people would not be railing against them. Plain and simple. It's console wars bullshit... the hate pilled up on good games from people who wouldn't play them anyway.

@Midnightshade29: I just personally feel like video games separate themselves from other mediums because of their interactivity. When interaction is limited or largely unimportant it makes me feel like I'm wasting my time.

With something like Uncharted or The Order, the games get you to play through parts that actually don't need you there other than to press forward mindlessly or follow the prompts on the screen. These games often rip you from interaction to tell their story and this weird switching between control and non control is excessively jarring to me.

Now I'm not against linearity, but to me there are two kinds of linear.

-cinematic: your input means next to nothing. You are a back seat driver that mildly influences what happens, but you are largely at the mercy of the driver. I feel these games devalue my interaction with them.

-challenging: These games are entirely gameplay, but keep you engaged by pushing your knowledge/proficiency at the gameplay. You remain the driver in control and have to interact successfully with the challenges around you. This makes the gameplay feel important even though the progression is linear.

Persona 5 isn't PS4-exclusive, let's stop this meme of pretending it's not also coming to PS3. It's a PS3 game also getting ported to PS4.

Bloodborne should be #1 instead of Uncharted 4. Demon's Souls was miles ahead of any of the Uncharted games.

Uncharted 4 is pretty much the only game that interests me. Bloodborne will likely be a fantastic game, but the Souls games frustrated me so I can't say I'm excited for it.

Was expecting a list of multiplats like The Witness, SOMA, Street Fighter or No Mans Sky. Gotta say: I'm pleasantly surprised.

Really looking forward to Rime and Uncharted 4!

Axiom Verge will end up on PC. It's not an IP owned by Sony. It's being done by 1 or 2 guys, so the pc version comes latter.

DQ Heroes is a musou game made by the guys who, well, make all the musou games. Every single one of them has been getting ported to PC. Bladestorm just got confirmed a few days ago and Samurai Warriors 4 was spotted on teh steam databse aswell. Unless it seels like shit, it'll get ported to PC not too long after

SF5 has cross play. It doesn't matter which platform you buy on. All players, pc and ps4, will play together.

Unless it's an IP owned by Sony, don't bother counting on exclusive, at the rate fighting games, jrpgs and everything else is coming to PC.

Uncharted 4, Rime, and Bloodborne.

That's about it. Still Persona 5 trumps all even though it's not a PS4 exclusive.

Tomorrow Children has peaked my interest. Knowing nothing about it, it looks cool.

Actually The Order got holes ripped in it because it is a steaming pile of shit.

Adventure games, puzzle games and cinematic story games have their place and can be good, if done properly. There have many over the years that I have enjoyed immensely. Unfortunately the adventure and puzzle genres are in desperate need of a renaissance, the days of Monkey Island, Sam and Max and Day of the Tentacle are long gone (oddly so is Lucas Arts).
