good for those that enjoyed the game ^^

i'm gonna miss the old school tomb Raider ( I should just call it that now ) but time to move on i suppose.

@R4gn4r0k: noo, Tomb Raider II sold 8 million copies on the PS1 alone

So it sold way more than 8 million when counting PC sales too?

@ Joedgabe

Theres got to be Alternitives Right ?

I can't think of one right, is it possible the old Boob Raider games were really one of a kind ? I hope not, if theres anygame that deserves to be shamelessly plagerised, its Boob Raider.

The platforming was very solid in the reboot. It was mainly the puzzles that were weaksauce. I know the devs see what goes on in the Eidos forums, on which this was discussed to great length among fans. We all hope they listen and address this in the next game.

@IgGy621985: IT broke even late last year, i still look at it as a success. It's not their fault SE spent money on stupid ads and a tacked on multiplayer nobody asked for

I plan on getting it soon for sure

Im currently playing through it now on ps4 and having a good deal of fun. The MP is a complete mess though and should either be scrapped for the next game or completely overhauled.

@Lulu_Lulu: how did it have a headstart? i was comparing the games in their respective time periods, not altogether.

Besides, I said TR2 sold 8 million on the PSX..alone. not counting PC sales (and maybe saturn, i cant remember if that one was on saturn too). the 6 million number for the reboot a combo of PC, PS3, PS4, 360, XBONE.

really, it just shows how much less popular tomb raider has become over the years.

good! Now go make a part 2!

What this guy said!

Nearly finished ... I'm kind of indifferent towards the game, it's such a blatant Uncharted knock off BUT it's still really fun for the most part. It's nothing like any Tomb Raider before it, which is good and bad.

Thats funny, you should see some of the old Tomb Raider PS1 games. Naughty Dog knows what they did. Uncharted is fun to play, but again Naughty Dog knows what they did.

#65 Posted by Mozelleple112 (6611 posts) -

it was a great game, way more enjoyable than any of the Uncharted games

Erhm, not even close to the quality of Uncharted 2.

And it absolutely deserves it. Tomb Raider did have its shortcomings, but overall the game was superb and one of the best games I played last gen.

@ jcrame10

Really ? 8million in the same time frame as The Reboot ? Thats news to me.

I wonder if Square Enix still considers it a failure

Seems like it made them a pretty sizeable profit by now, probably thanks to the re-release. 6 million sales at $60 each amounts to some $360 million in revenues. Even if only half of those revenues go to Square Enix,, that's still considerably more than what they would have spent on the development & marketing budget (pretty sure it's no more than $100 million).

Well they considered it a failure when it sold 3+ million in its first month, and I think their projected/expected sales were something ridiculous like 14 6 million. So i think they finally hit predicted

Edited: it was 14 million for total retail game sales in 6 months

WTF? 14 million?

The PSX lineup during Tomb Raider's timeframe was pretty lackluster. So, yeah. Tomb Raider was one of the games which sold the PSX. The PC version looked okay at SVGA, but ran terribly. The VGA version ran fine. But, it looked pixelated compared to the PSX version.

Edit:

That's why I think it's too early to say either PS4 or XB1 needs saving. We haven't even seen this new gen hit its stride yet.

Square Enix was smart releasing the TR DE a couple months after the new gen console launch when there was a lull in new games.

14 million retail sales for all their games, they expected 6-7 million from Tomb Raider by its self. But they did consider tomb raider a failure at launch for only selling 3 million in a month

Really? I thought it was akin to Uncharted.

i.e. terrible

#75 Posted by Lulu_Lulu (8611 posts) -

@ foxhound_fox

Uncharted's platforming forming was terrible because it was very inconsistant and imprecise. And alil buggy.

Tomb Raider's Platforming and Axe climbing was just boring and Tedious.

Liking the game, but it's nothing like the original. Zero exploration involved in the main missions and shit load of action sequences and shooting. But still love it. Graphics and sound are awesome (ps4)

Damn, what were they thinking? That's CoD numbers. If that's what they expect from all their games then they should pack their bags and go home.

My girlfriend was watching me play it yesterday and complained about being dizzy for some reason. I didn't notice the connection until I played again a few minutes ago, and now I'm totally feeling queasy myself due to the damn camera.

Glad to hear it, really enjoyed playing this. Hopefully there will be a new game at some point.

Agreed.

#82 Posted by Gue1 (9157 posts) -

I hope that for the next game is more about the adventure and discovering stuff instead of gore and screams that sound like you're watching a porno. Uncharted is more like an action flick with some Indiana Jones themes, so there's tons of room for both games to do their thing.

Tomb Raider is an awesome game. in fact so good i bought it twice.
