The Steam Summer Sale (June 19)

1 is a huge open world game with hundreds of hours of side content and a beautiful landscape to explore, the other is a story driven game about banging elves or something like that, and then there's the last game that is just what a game should be.

It's not worth comparing these games, they are so different, and they all have their strengths. I personally do not prefer Skyrim over Dark Souls, nor do I prefer Dark Souls over skyrim. However I would take the two over TW2.

Hmm I liked Metro 2033 but not sure about getting LL, I found Metro to be exhausting because horror style games are more of an adrenaline rush than actually enjoyable for me, but that's still another kind of positive experience. I also don't think a 560ti is going to do too well with this amazing looking game lol :P

Anyone play Betrayer? Looks interesting but its gotten mostly mediocre reviews.

Dark Souls is a good game but there are just too many annoying things about it to make it a great game in my eyes. It does combat incredibly well and exploration as well but it does a horrible job of explaining how to actually play the game and figuring that stuff out isn't fun. Also, the camera is really bad and the bosses were incredibly easy.

I remember a time when Plannetary Annihilation used to cost 90+ euro... Wait, what am I saying, that wasn't even a year ago XD

I would recommend it. It's a bit repetitive, but it's highly original.

It really isn't like any other shooter, because you're using bows, throwing axes and muskets and pistols that only have one bullet.

I would recommend watching some gameplay on youtube, and if you like it, do check it out.

Then it obviously isn't for you because that obscurity in how to learn everything about Dark Souls is what makes it appealing. The fact that the game tells you nothing, and yet you learn anyways, makes it a very natural and rewarding RPG.

I think it's a lot more fun getting introduced to the Souls series playing 'with' a group of friends. When I first played Demon's Souls back in college a couple friends and I were switching off save files (separate characters) so we could watch each other fail and laugh and give suggestions about how to get through. Was a lot more fun like that.

Then Dark Souls I knew what I was doing so that obstacle was overcome.

Idk, I didn't even know how to use magic for the first 25 hours of the game lol. Learning what the stats and items do was my least favorite part of the game. Also, playing on 360 with that God awful framerate didn't help.

Many people say Last Light is more action-like.

Dunno, I think both metros are pretty much alike. Both games are pure action games to me, though horror elements are present. And I remember a really scary monster fight in Last Light, but those are few and far between :)

Lol battleblock is already 75% off. I would get tomb raider, but I might just wait a bit more on that one.

Seeing if it goes cheaper isn't why I might wait till later this year for it. Through guess might as well get it now rather than winter sales where I most likely going to look into ACU.

Todays sales were a lot better. Got Skyrim, Metro 2033, Kingdom of Amalur, for about $13.

I have to say, I was pretty pissed off that yesterday basically had 4 early access games on the list.. Early access shouldn't even be on the discount section imo..

Bought Outlast and Metro Last Light. Thinking of getting Fable - The Lost Chapters, but I have two questions that need answered first.

1. Will it run on Windows 7?

2. Will it run in 1080p?

SO DAMN GOOD.

That game is my obsession right now.

Oh I know, I have the PS3 version. Hate the linear dungeons and all, but figure I can tool around with it here and there on my laptop from time to time.

Are the headhunter dlcs worth it? They aren't in the GOTY for some reason..

As far as I know, they are. I'm only in the main campaign right now and am probably gonna try the DLCs as well before I see if I get Borderland-ed out. If they go on sale in that time, all the better.

So far it all the early access games that have been listed on daily are the ones that are being actively updated and are near release(wasteland 2 releases aug and divinity:OS releases next week) . People should atleast give them a chance.

There are TONS of games don't get updated very often and they never go on daily sale.

Heads up to those who got Metro LL like me, for some nvidia gpus the advanced physx setting will set back your framerate to terrible numbers (for me about 10 fps). This is because the game installs an older version of physx and resets the setting to use cpu as opposed to gpu. You have to reinstall your entire driver if you want to enable the setting without the ridiculous framerate dips.

Don't forget that Metro Redux is coming out soon, sure it's not on sale but it's newer versions of both Metro 2033 and Last Light with lots of changes

Yes and yes, with some quick Google research. May need some tweaking, and apparently there is an option for 1080p, but the main menu and intro movie and in a skewy res.

This was only pretty quick research, so there could be a number of issues that I don't know about.

For $50...I just picked up Last Light for $6.79. That's quite a difference.

They are doing more than just updating the visuals, according to Deep Silver the Redux games will have "advanced enemy AI, improved combat and stealth mechanics, superior weapon handling, and more responsive, intuitive controls." And advanced lighting, dynamic weather, more detailed characters with improved animation, more dynamic destruction, and improved smoke, fire, and particle effects." There are also new melee animations and Check Watch and Check Inventory features. All the DLC is included with both games as well.

There are also two new gameplay styles; Survival Play and Spartan Play. Survival Play turn the game into a more stealth focused game with a "slow burn fight for survival" (Steam Page)

I would say there is more than enough content to justify re-releasing the games and not just a simple patch

I've been wondering if I should just wait and buy the redux package instead of buying last light. I have Metro 2033 already from a humble bundle, but I haven't played it yet due to the Redux announcement.

I just bought that Battleblock Theater game, the trailer for it was amazing. So far I've spent close to $50 NZD on this sale, I have bought 8 games.

Admirable in the thems that game tries to convey in a videogame. That's where all the positives end for that game though.
