The Legend of Zelda vs Final Fantasy

Before you say that I'm comparing two different genres, I'd like to know which franchise do you consider better by it's own merits. Both of them are two long-running franchises and you could draw some parallels between them (besides being Japanese games and mainly taking place in fantasy settings).

I voted TLoZ because I consider it the more consistent and enjoyable franchise. Perhaps FF is more diverse but I'm not really a fan of the JRPG genre (and even for JRPG merits it has some hefty competition).

FF9> All Zeldas.

But both have plenty of negatives.

Seeing as Zelda has pretty much stayed Zelda and FF went into FF12 style and...

While i have enjoyed several FFs and FF8 is one of my all time favorite games ever, i have to go with THE franchise, Zelda.

Zelda is my favorite franchise of all time. Final Fantasy isnt bad either, especially not during its prime.

Final Fantasy as a series has had more engrossing stories and deeper messages, so FF wins for me. Not saying Zelda is bad, because I love Zelda, but FF can intrigue me on a more mature level than Zelda can.

Im actually playing FF6 on an emualator on my phone right now lol...I have all the FF and zeldas...if you only count FF1-9 then I say FF....otherwise I guess zelda

Auron is my 3rd favorite video game charater, but Vivi is the True Hero.

Zelda is consistently amazing. Final Fantasy isn't.funsohng

I love The Legend of Zelda series, but Final Fantasy wins it!

I like Shin Megami Tensei and Dragon Quest better than both of those.

Zelda. While there are some epic FF games, LOZ is just more consistent with producing awesome quality games.

I'd take a Zelda game anyday. They just feel like they are higher quality games.

I have to be in the right mood for a Final Fantasy game.

really zelda wow suprised me thought for sure it would be FF. Had way more better times on FF for me. wats zelda's story anyway? same thing as it always is. game play same thing everytime.......suprising.

More influential: FF, really became the flagship of JRPGs, and is responsible for making them huge outside Japan.

Better series: Zelda, by far a more consistant quaility series.

I would personally prefer FFXIII to both gamecube Zelda games. The N64 games are a different story, but the Zelda of today? Boring.

They're both my favorites series . But I like Zelda more.

Final Fantasy for me. All masterpieces up until FFX, went downhill fast after that.

lol nothing manly about that!

this is a no brainer for me zelda by far.

i only liked the early FF games and while zelda TP was not as good as WW or OOT it hasn't declined as badly as FF

The Legend of Zelda wins hands down,I enjoy both games but Final Fantasy XIII disappointed the hell out of me while I loved playing Twilight Princess.

You have no idea how deep and well constructed the symbolism of just about everything in Wind Waker is. The setting and almost every NPC's story relates to the overarching message in the game. It makes a seamless and satisfying whole and it is beautiful!

I refuse to choose between the two so I just clicked on disliking them both :evil:

Both are very good series.

Haha, you're exaggerating. Wind Waker's characters are terribly constructed and their development is just awful. Case and point: Prince Komali. And while some of their stories did relate to the overall theme of the game, the stories themselves were bland and undeveloped. The settings were void of pretty much any color aside from blue, green, and brown. That seemed rather lazy to me.
