I'll go all in with AAAA as well.
9/10. I love Zelda and I am buying a Switch for it, but I have to be realistic too. The game will have flaws and things that are not so great. Many will probably give it a 10 because of hype/fanboy. I also wouldn't be surprised if it gets an 8 if it is reviewed without bias.
This is a nintendo interpretation of gta using a zelda world for a handheld. I'm going 7/10 and citing performance issues.
I'm going to be safe and hype it AA. I just hope they don't dilute the core Zelda formula of puzzle solving with open world stuff. That's what makes me a little nervous.
Lazy hype thread, boss. You can do better than this!
Put me down for AAA hype. No way this'll score AAAA; the Gamespot bias against Nintendo is too strong to allow such a score. And let us never forget the Skyward Sword debacle.
I do wonder when reviews will start pouring in, though. Color me curious.
Ten.
I don't think the open world will deliver a consistently exceptional experience and it'll loose a bit from perfection
I share this sentiment, but i think the gaming press will feel pressured to rate this title higher regardless of its shortcomings.

But that didn't happen with Skyward Sword
AAAAE, IDGAF if it's a flop. System Wars needs some balls to make bold predictions not seen since Captain Toad.
All these people saying GS overrates Nintendo and Zelda......wut
Do you not remember TP? SS? Both MASSIVE flops from two different reviewers. If anything, this is Sonyspot.
I am glad us fellow sheep are being ballsy though....none of that safe AA bull-crap (get it....cuz cows do it :D)
But that didn't happen with Skyward Sword
Didn't play it cause lol motion controls, so i can't judge how fair the GS score was, but the game still enjoyed its share of 10s, just not here.
At least from what i've seen Botw looks like a remarkably mechanically sound game and i'm assuming its faults will lie in the narrative.
Predicting a bit of an MGSV situation with it.

Lets be real chaz, plenty of Zelda games skate by on having The Legend of Zelda in the title.

Fair enough, yeah. I suppose fans were actually less tolerant of Skyward Sword's bullshit than critics lol.
What's your hype for Breath of the Wild?

Normally, none. I go in with no hype, can't be disappointed when you have no expectations for this medium namasayin?
......that said they do seem to be presenting me with all the stuff I'd want, enough to say, that we're about to get our first, genuine, honest to god, actually great 3d Zelda game. But as soon as I say that Aunoma will probably actually join the dev team and be like, okay guys, lets pad this sucker out with boring bullshit no one ever wants to do because the Zelda series first and foremost is a fat bitch.
Being able to just let loose and not be at the mercy of a video game story, especially Zelda. yes pls
I can go zero to end game if I'm feeling ballsy? yes pls.
Nintendo's brand of level design+this approach to genuine freedom? sign me up
Beyond that give me
-Hero mode to play with from the get go, so I'm at least kept honest while I play
-Give me some genuinely inventive dungeons and boss fights.
-Add just enough to the combat to let it feel like I have options (and the different ways you can interact with the open world shows that so far)
-How about letting everyone in the game speak Hylian or whatever, so the game has actual voice acting because lol translation+nintendo direction
@jg4xchamp: Champ, this Zelda is a lot of things. Fat is not one of them.
Whether I am talking about the game, or the chick, I leave it to you to decide.

And that would be great, but that can only be a thing if Aunoma is only doing Producer things, like coming in to say "good job team, way to make me look good, because man, did Wind Waker suck when I was directing" Namasayin?
I mean the other part is Skyward Sword director not bringing back his tears of bullshit quests, that dumb dragon, those doofy controls, his repeating demise boss fight, his boring combat ideas, that shadow realm nonsense.
It's like most of these Zelda directors sign a contract to add as much filler as humanly possible, so we never question the idea that Miyamoto is the GOAT.

Wind Waker was fucking awesome, only a person with no soul would hate that game.
That apart, I agree, they need to trim down the fat, make it a focused, fun, mechanically perfect 3D Zelda game. Everything I've seen of the game indicates that that's what this will be, but who knows? At the last minute, Nintendo may just decide to make us repeat like, the first half of the game in the second half, because padding, or some such other bullshit.
We'll see. I have high hopes. Aonuma is the GOAT when he isn't stuck answering to fans, or Miyamoto and Nintendo. This was Aonuma doing his thing, so I want to see how it turns out.
(also I was talking about the chick)
Wind Waker was fucking awesome, only a person with no soul would hate that game.
Or someone who actually likes the game part of his video game. Wind Waker is easy as sin and has the weakest dungeons in the game. The one thing a Zelda games gameplay can hang its hat on, the fucking dungeons, Wind Waker has a less of them, and less good ones while we're at it. It has a good overworld and a fantastic presentation and an okay story (one overly gassed up by Zelda dweebs, but I mean what the **** do gamers actually know about good stories, most ignorant fanbase ever). The actual meat of the game is mad suspect.
And Aunoma sucks.
Dude's directed 3 games, and he's been nothing more than a Tribute band. Majora's Mask - the runner up for worst 3d Zelda - and Twilight Princess- Ocarina's fan fiction sequel. Majora's Mask is cool from a story telling and uniqueness standpoint, and at least 2 of the dungeons being the shit, but that opening dungeon is suspect, and some of the quests in Majora's Mask are really fucking tedious.
So GOAT? I mean even among game directors who have worked at Nintendo, he wouldn't be in their top 5.
@jg4xchamp: Wind Waker's actual overworld and exploration was also awesome. Thats one of the chief strengths of a Zelda game, and Wind Waker arguably does it best. And hey, that is also the 'game part of a video game.'
I don't think either of us will make the other agree on Wind Waker at this point :p

What do you actually explore for though in Wind Waker? The game is as processed as ever, dungeons are super linear when you get into them, and the coolest thing you find requires you to get the teleporting spell to land in a great fairy pool.
Metroid Prime 1 and 2 are about meaningful exploration.
Link Between Worlds and its overworld with its wall shifting mechanic playing into the shifting two worlds, and finding secret paths is about exploration.
Wind Waker is like, a few less heart containers away from being utterly pointless in terms of exploring.
Champ, Wind Waker is the most fun 3D Zelda.
>most fun 3d zelda
>worst dungeons in the franchise that isn't one of the handheld zeldas, ironically its direct sequels being shittier than it.
Which I guess a Zelda game could get away with if you know, the dungeons weren't the only source of potential excellence in this franchise and the meat of what makes them enjoyable games in the first place?
You people are fucking nuts.
Well, what's your hype then?
4/7
Champ, Wind Waker is the most fun 3D Zelda.
Twilight Princess is the best one overall though, Gamecube version in particular.
"Most fun" as in mostly time wasting, boring dungeons with very basic puzzles and obvious layouts. If you like the open world that's fine but the open world is only half of any Zelda game, and Wind Waker's dungeoneering is about as tedious as any mainline Zelda game has ever been.
Imagine what it'd be like if people who played Sonic Unleashed tried to pretend only the fast Sonic parts exist and nothing else.

This man gets it, and vaas gave up on the glory that is Ninja Gaiden 2.

Yes well I can't like a game solely for it's core combat when 100% of the rest of it is total shit. Boring story, horrendous camera, ugly graphics with plenty of slowdown, tons of glitches, inferior level design to most action games, and bullshit attacks that don't feel fair at all, like that exploding armadillo garbage or the cancer as **** worm thing boss in the subway.
@charizard1605: So yeah.... >___> I'll switch to the AAAA camp, please. Sorry for the trouble. (I'm the 3rd on the AAA list) Thanks.
Wind Waker is by no means the best designed title in the series but I still found it enjoyable. Particularly the charm and art direction are paramount. The soundtrack is also one of my favorites in the series.
There are some dungeons however that totally drag the experience down. Namely the Wind Temple. That's one of my least favorite dungeons in the entire series. Despite this, strangely I found its overworld to be one of the more engaging in the 3D titles. Certainly more so that Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time or Skyward Sword. Granted, the strengths in the Zelda titles are in the dungeon design but given how much time is spent in the overworld, the games need to have a good one.
Nothing quite beats Majora's Mask on that front for me.
