This game looks fantastic. I've been waiting on it for years. Bought the Wii U in anticipation for this game. & now I have the Switch preordered along with the Special Edition of this.

Hyping it AAA, but AA will be just fine for me.

9 for me. I don't think the open world will deliver a consistently exceptional experience and it'll loose a bit from perfection

I have no idea to be honest. It's hard to look back on this franchise history comparatively to now. I've noticed aggregates aren't as high this generation as they were last generation.

Skyward Sword had an aggregate of 93(?) on Metacritic in a generation where numerous games were easily hitting the 90+ mark. As high as 97.

This generation, I've noticed scores aren't as high. Despite this, A Link Between Worlds was still favored well in aggregates at 91.

However, there's been a shift and with open world titles having been so well explored, I feel critics are naturally going to gravitate towards comparisons to The Witcher 3 (and likely the Elder Scrolls too). These games have a comparatively darker tone which has also been a favorite among critics since the hit Naughty Dog had with The Last of Us.

All things considered, if I was taking a total stab in the dark? I'm going to guess Breath of the Wild will circle somewhere in the high 80's with critics. Truth be told though, I don't actually care all that much. :P

AAAA - 10/10

Game is going to have the size, atmosphere, hidden secrets, combat, exploration, balance, and story only Nintendo can deliver.

Its Gamespot, what do you expect. Ive never hyped a 10 and defiantly wouldnt do it on a Nintendo game.

@aigis: Martin hasnt been here for like 3 years. We lost all the good Nintendo reviewers. Gamespot doing good on the rebound though. They now have two of my favorite reviews with Kallie and Scott. But knowing our luck, neither is reviewing Breath of the Wild.

@flyincloud1116: I do. Gamespot likes being on the low end with Nintendo games and its only complaint i can think of. Theyll be like, man, i missed so much cause the game didnt hold my hand.

While I expect AAA I'm not personally all that hyped for that game...

Still have some doubts about this game but let's hype it with a AAA.

Would be surprised if it doesn't get AAA, but who really knows. I'm still traumatized from the Twilight Princess 8.8 ordeal.

It turns out I can't replay it, I'd have to repurchase the game. And some Wiimotes.

Personally, I don't really think I will care for the open world, go anywhere at anytime, nature of the game. I think it will hurt the narrative and charm that most 3D Zelda games are able to deliver on, and it will dumb down the dungeons to the point that they just aren't very memorable. It's Zelda, so I'm really going to want to like the game. That is why I am leaning toward an 8, rather than the 6-7 hype that this sort of game under any other title would generate for me.

As far as the critics go, that is harder to judge. I do think there is some open world fatigue setting in on critics as well, though. These games tend to leave an amazing first impression and grow stale somewhere around the halfway point where you are just mindlessly doing side quests and forget what is even going on with the main storyline. I view 8 as the most likely, but would be a lot more surprised to see a score of 7 or under than I would a score of 9 or even 10. Likewise, I think it's more likely that I will walk away disappointed and feeling like the game should be scored a 6 than it is that I will be itching for more Zelda to play and thinking it was some sort of masterpiece.

8 is a solid score for a game that will probably end up fairly solid, but not very groundbreaking.
