The best video game of all time - 2014 Edition

A new year has come and in it, we're bound to play some catch up on many old games from years past. Some of these may even be classics that slowly slip into your top games of all time list.

2013 obviously was no different, unless you were kidnapped and placed in a place where instead of flicking joysticks or humping a space bar, you thumbs could nothing but twiddle.

So non-thumb twiddlers, inquiring minds want to know, what is your favorite game of all time? Did you play a game in 2013 that would be in your top games of all times list?

I've yet to play anything that quite matches Resident Evil 4.

Anyways, mine is Final Fantasy 7. Others that are up there with it are Final Fantasy Tactics, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and Vagrant Story

Eh, that's fine, a lot of people do find SotC boring. I would highly suggest you try more than three colossi though

Is there anymore to the game than just fighting those colossus? I might try it again, but if all it is is run a short distance here and fight this big super easy to kill monster, then go that short distance over there and kill that big easy to kill monster, then no thanks.

I still have my PS1 copies to all those games too. Still got the gold chocobo guide from PSM in the case with the game. Also own it on PC from Steam. Why surprised? Do I seem like a different type of gamer to you or something? At least tell me you didn't think of me as a bro gamer. Anything else I can live with, but bro gamers suck.

No, but the monsters themselves are pretty interesting, moving, interactive puzzles which gives the game its hook. I'd give the game another shot if I were you (and I don't even like it at all, I think it's overrated, at least as of the PS2 version)

Play it and find out, honestly. It doesn't take too long anyways, and if you get bored by, say, the fifth colossus, then the game is really not for you.

It's extremely fun to see how each colossus is a puzzle in itself, along with actually reaching the squirming and fleeing colossi. Besides, the last time you played is December 22nd, so try it again now and see if it's better.

I just realized my list is made up predominantly of "2's".

Other than the obvious ones... Shadow of the Colossus is the successor to ICO, DMC3 is the successor to DMC and Castlevania: Curse of Darkness is the second major 3D Castlevania that was actually worth playing.

The only "2" not on there is Super Metroid.

Final Fantasy X is my personal favorite.

No. I've been looking for a copy of the PS2 Dark Mirror for a while (I think there was two PSP SF's IIRC), but they are either too expensive ($15+) or when I do find it, I don't have any money. I could order it online, but I'm lazy and getting deliveries at my apartment is a pain in the ass.

Favorite games of all time? Depends on the day, really. Today, I'll say Super Mario Bros 3. Tomorrow? I'd maybe say:

• Batman: Arkham City
• The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
• Red Dead Redemption
• Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Or something else entirely.

People posting amazing games, but till this day it's still said that Ocarina of Time is the best game of all time.

Looking back, the game I have the most fond memories of is Banjo-Tooie. Perfect gameplay, music and humor. I can't say if it's the greatest, but I think it's my favourite.

• Super Mario 64
