System Wars Lounge v54: The So Many Games Edition

Since 2015 is absolutely loaded with game releases, no matter which platform you own or a fan of, here's a lounge dedicated to it.

Unless you own a Vita. Because then, lolVita.

RULES:

1. Be nice (or pretend to be nice), even to people you can't stand, or you'll be sent over to the moderation queue. It's a long one too, so you'll be waiting there forever. Trust me, you just want to swallow the pill and be nice instead.
2. Don't get into politics or religious discussions here. On this board, we don't like dividing ourselves along artificial lines like that, no sir.
3. Being a jerk to charizard1605 is permitted and encouraged, since that guy is a pompous asshole, and he needs to be knocked down a peg.

Mass Effect 1 is pretty ok, it's basically Dragon Age Origins except slightly worse.

Here's the thing... Mass Effect 1 tells the best chapter of the story, hands down and also keeps its focus on developing said story and characters throughout.... Dragon age bludgeon you in the face for 75 hours with far less interest setting and characters. Now, I can appreciate that for me playing dragon age was far better played on pc, something I did not do... But the gameplay of dragon age origins, personally felt more like the evolution of KOTOR gameplay rather than mass effect.

I did not enjoy origins, though I sank 80 or more hours into it... Its story felt so bland to me and by the end I just wanted it to be over... Inquisition on the other hand deserves it praise and then some... Plus @jg4xchamp: doesn't like it so you know it's a goat.

In the end, the takeaway from both games, for me is that mass effect is far more memorable of a game despite its lack of finesse in combat. Dragon age left me feeling over saturated with mediocrity... Also, and I may be in the minority for saying this, but the open exploration in mass effect 1 bitch slaps the more guided journey of the other two games around every corner and the fact that Bioware closed the game limited it's scope and also stripped the franchise of the feeling of exploration... Something that the sequels never recaptured.

Can't really argue with you here, I've only played like 2 hours of Mass Effect so far. Those were just my first impressions, it definitely reminds me of DA Origins, but with more primitive graphics (not by much) and... mediocre combat. But I definitely can't comment on anything else yet. The characters do seem to be more interesting though.

In both games I think the main story is more or less the same, isn't it? In both games you have humans+several races fighting vs some super evil army race thing. It's the classic go-to kind of base for a story. Which isn't bad I guess, since Lord of the Rings has that.

Anyone been noticing the Twitter trend "iAMOnBoard2015"? It's involving many voice actors (Tara Strong, Jennifer Hale, Laura Bailey, Steve Blum, Yuri Lowenthal, David Hayter, you name 'em) and how it's about their importance in games (or something like that, it's likely broader).

I wonder why it's come to this?

I can't tell if this is real either. D: But onto the point you're making, if real, that'd make her less politically correct than champ without any of his humor to back it up. I'd find her offensive, to be honest. It'd be fair to dislike her for that much like it would be fair to dislike a racist. Emotionally distressed as she was at the moment (Timestamp: Oct. 14, 2014. Oct. 10 was when she was forced to re-locate), that would be no excuse for such behaviour.

That's not -quite- the reason people gave for disliking her earlier on though. Not. At. All.
