My novel. Since I am also turning it in for class on Monday, I need to fast track it, and not procrastinate like I usually do. But that, that was crazy. Like my head is still buzzing.

Wow that's crazy. I don't think I could do that. I like to stretch out my writing, but even if I had to finish it up quick like that, I would probably just give up hah.

I honestly didn't think I could do it either. Like don't get me wrong, I write really fast, but I'm still low overall, because of how hard it is for me to keep my attention on the story or the book. This time though, I like neutered my computer by removing its internet, and went all in. I think it came out well, though I'm rewriting the last chapter right now to fix it.

Right now, I am at 48,901. The target is a 60,000-90,000 range. I'm thinking that I turn in a 60,000 word for class, and then go back, rework it, add another 20,000 words, and then start sending it out.

I'm assuming this is still a first draft? Or, have you had any workshops with the story yet?

First draft, but individual chapters have had a fair amount of workshopping. Once I turn in the rough final draft for class, I am planning on entering perhaps the most extensive period of editing I have ever done for any of my stories yet. It's going to be brutal.

Yeah figured as much. Yeah, I have one "book" done, but I'm actually trying to avoid editing/revising it as much as possible right now because it's almost 150,000 words (I know, I know :P) Does the class get to read your completed work, or just the prof?

Haha, 150,000 words? I can't ever stretch out my stories enough to make them that long, I fizzle out at about 90,000. What genre is it? Fantasy? And yeah, editing that is gonna be a b*tch :P Just the Professor, technically; but some of my class wants me to email it to them as well, so I'm gonna do it. More feedback for when I sit down to edit it lol.

:P Yeah, it's Fantasy, but it's such a mixture, it's hard to say actually. I'm working on the sequel now, and I'm at around 80,000 words for that one, so after I finish both I'll start editing. Gives me more time to mentally prepare. Yeah no doubt. I honestly wish i could do a novel, but my "capstone" for next semester is limited to a a collection of short stories, poetry or a screenplay. Don't ask me why... I hope the other students in your class give good feedback, I swear some people just are terrible at it, even if their fantastic writers themselves.

Nice. Think of it this way, if you do the sequel now, then work on finalizing the first one, then, assuming it gets published, your readers won't have to wait too long for the sequel :P I actually found that writing short stories and poetry all semester helped me with being able to do the novel: I just broke the novel down into similar episodic portions, almost self contained, you might say, and always focused on doing those, and never the 'big picture' 60k words/200 pages thing, which can get very daunting. So hey, it might help. Plus hey, creative break and all that jazz lol And yeah, I agree :P The problem is, people are too nice. Like, I understand not wanting to be jerks or anything, but come on, if you find something wrong with the story, just tell me so I can fix it, I won't hate you for it, on the contrary, I'll love you for it...

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, I love poetry, but it's just annoying we can't do whatever we want. I guess that's what bothers me. And yeah, I totally agree. Now imagine if you went to school in Minnesota like I do, where people are already too nice about everything. :P

Yes and no. You have to go through a small nordic ruin to get some loot, defeat some draugrs, and then the final reward is a small house.
