Silly calves, the Playstation will never be able to take over Nintendo's reign. The Ultra 64 will kick it's ass. Have you seen the new screenshots for Zelda 64? Holy crap!

zelda 64

Damn! Look at those graphics. NEXT GEN, BABY! AAAA, calling it now. Sig me if ya want. What does the PS have on this? Final Fantasy? Lol, jumped the shark the moment it moved over to PS. FF7 will flop, no doubt.

Also, Saturn will make a comeback with Sonic X-treme. I mean, c'mon, Sonic in 3D! Can't fail!

Pfft, N64? PS1? You got it all wrong. Its all about the Saturn. SEGA does what Sony and Nintendon't. It has TWO PROCESSORS man and is based off tech inside sega's ARCADE MACHINES. That means its games will look as good a Sega Rally and Virtua Fighter do in the arcades.
Now excuse me. I need to go and listen to Pearl Jam in the dark while watching Clerks.

What !? Are you crazy! Battle Arena Toshinden is the best fighting game ever made. No way Street Fighter will ever surpass those graphics. It's not even 3d. But I am going to get the Virtual Boy when it gets a price drop.

I can't believe I have to sell my Saturn because it no longer has games on it

*the same thing happend to Sega with DreamCast in 2001. Shows how unlucky Sega were with console making business*

Seriously, Atari would make more money selling DBZ games or something.

U know nothing, the JAGUAR is "alledgedly" the most powerful console ever, it is touted as "more powerful than the saturn and PS1 put together"*.

Its game catalogue is gonna be huge, supposedly.

Come on, atari where there at the beginning they know exactly wot they are doing,(if u ignore the whole E.T. debacle)

Yeah...when compared to SNES graphics, of course we did. Where you old enough back then to remember the first glimpses of 3D games? If not, you'd have to erase all of what consoles have been capable of for the past two generations in order to fully understand why we were blown away by such screenshots when they first surfaced.

I disagree. The graphics in classic games don't mean much compared to how fun they still are. Not Tekken though. I hate Tekken. I can still appreciated the graphics of games like Star Fox(yes, the original), Wave Race 64, SMB, Secret of Mana, ect.., because either they were benchmarks of graphics of their day or still artistically/asthetically pleasing.

I didnt intend to imply the gameplay is not still appreciated. in many cases (a couple uve mentioned) the games themselves havnt been surpassed in gamplay. However in most cases the graphics have. I can still appreciate retro graphics for the time they were done and the benchmarks they set. (I am still a spriteaholic).

Also I still think Ocarina of time is one of the best lookin games of all time. My point is some games now look really bad, in the case of tekken it has been surppassed in graphics and gameplay.

Also playin some old racing games seems almost impossible cus i've been spoiled by smotheness and HD.

I agree that some games really have not aged well in the graphics department. A lot of that I suspect is a cutting edge/realism aspect of certain older games. Games that aim for realism for graphics will always be outdated. However, the clean sprites/backgrounds of Super Mario World, the sharp, beautiful water effects of Wave Race 64, the gorgeous colors, animation and lighting in Wind Waker to me are the type of elements in graphics that never seem to get ugly.

Hmm ive really messed the quote thing up there.

Yep, i suppose it comes down to the artistic side of the graphics. Sprite bases games especialy can be almost ageless, if origional and well realised such as earthworm jim, most mario games, gunstar heroes and the ever present Metal slug. Hope I convinced im not some graphics whore, it wasnt intended.

Any way where was I.........oh yes, the Atari jaguars AVP is the best FPS ever, even better than Halo and KZ2*, altho as im speakin from a 1995 perspective, they wont appear for over a decade.

*again with the PR speak

Games need more calculations. Having automatic calculations of your stats in RPGs is so last gen.

Revolutionary Jaguar RPGs givve you the formula, and then you figure out how much HP you have. It's much better.

Back in those days I was a fan of the Sega Saturn then Nintendo 64 since my first console was the original NES. It had some great games but the games were so darn expensive, i remember paying 80 bucks for War Gods (mortal kombat clone). I also had Killer instinct Gold which was awesome. As well as Mortal kombat trilogy, MK4, and subzero mytholories... and of course Zelda (1st one).
