I've ordered the Switch and Zelda, which is enough for me for now :p

Pre-ordered the Classic Grey, with Zelda Master Edition, and Bomberman.

Trying to decided if I want a Pro Controller day one, or if I want to give the JoyCons a decent try first. I also want a decent case for it, but not sure which one.

Also, I'm really hoping Nintendo will have some sort of Direct next week. I feel they need something to go over the online interface, My Nintendo, eShop and possible virtual console.

This indeed is very good hype thread. I'm not interested in the Switch yet, but time may change my mind.

Preordered my Switch at gamestop. Pro controller at best buy. A case for my switch, Zelda and 1-2 switch on amazon.

Yeah, it's nice to finally get another system that's not just a PC wannabe.

Personally I don't take the risk. Sure I give the Joy-Con a chance, but if they are too small for my huge hands, I want my alternative close to me :D I'm also looking forward to get more information on it :)

No we're not. It is a new system that's neither a WiiU nor a 3DS, so how could it be in the same gen?

It doesn't matter if this isn't the next generation, it's Nintendo's next generation.

Switch is kind of like a Vita for me at the moment.

Great tech, I want to take it with me everywhere, ...

But it seriously lacks games. Which, to be fair can be said about any new console that launches.

Still, I want to see more great games and unique home and handheld experiences. Not motion or tech demo crap like 1, 2, switch please!

I won't be spending money on the Pro Controller, didn't need it with the Wii U, not gonna need it with the Switch. Got the Neon version and Zelda pre-ordered, might buy a grey joy-con set too in the future.

Oh man really? Wii U pro controller was my go-to on every game unless the game absolutely demanded gamepad use like Splatoon.

The D-Pad on the Switch is so terrible, you will need a Pro controller eventually lol.

Nope. Sixth gen started in 1998 with the Dreamcast. Seventh started in 2005 with the Xbox 360. Eighth gen started with the Wii U in 2012. Ninth gen will start with Switch in 2017

It will have to be enough because its the only game Switch has until Mario Odyssey :p

It's not even really a D pad. It's directions as buttons. Any reports on how playing sonic mania feels using those instead of the analog stick?

I'm hoping this is a good sign that Nintendo will focus less on 2D sidescrollers and more on full 3D games.

"The next generation starts on March 3rd" Give me a break. The games are more interesting than the power of the Switch itself. You don't deserve to brag about the power of it as a console.

The motion controls, HD rumble, playing it on the go and most importantly the games should help it to sell well. It'll probably sell 18 million. Its basically 70% a handheld for $300 US.

So if it is 70% a handheld, can't I brag abou it being a next gen handheld? it is without a doubt stronger than the 3DS and the Vita. That aside, power doesn't define a generation. If it was like this, PC would have Gen 11 devices with people running 4-way-SLI Titan Xs

Yeah, its the most powerful gaming handheld, exactly.

Calling it a 9th gen makes me laugh. When the PS5 is released as a 9th gen console it'll dwarf the Switch in power. So lets focus on this gen first.

The 3DS was eighth gen. The DS was seventh gen. The Switch is ninth gen inasmuch as that term has any meaning anymore.

This focus on power to the exclusion of all else is dumb.

I hope all of those SNK games come with Online play.

We live in confusing times. To start a new console generation going backwards is certainly unprecedented.
