Poll SW, is the X1 controller noisier than the PS4's? (37 votes)

Definitely. 30%
Probably. 14%
Maybe. 14%
Unlikely. 0%
Nope. 22%
Haven't tried both to compare nor notice. 22%

I recently got an X1 and seems the controller's much noisier than my DS4.

I usually have someone with me when I play consoles and it was them that noticed that it recently. They never complained about such when I use the DS4.

The sticks seem to sound much audible when they hit the edges like a loud "clack, clack, clack!".

My DS4 sticks sound more like low "tuk, tuk, tuk!"

Also noticed the Dpad and Bumpers. Very, very loud compared to the DS4's.

I own the VITA and it has a clicking Dpad (and face buttons) and is almost silent.

Hmm.. maybe it's just my X1 controller that's like this (defective)?

Perhaps the PS4 controller is more dense and don't produce as hollow noises as the X1's?

So, SW.. ya guys think the X1 controller is actually noisier than the DS4?

Never really thought about it, but i guess you're right... I'm not quite following why this matters though, both controllers work great

I play with headphones, so I don't notice controller noise at all.

Heh. Some people get a bit annoyed when I start gaming on the X1 due to the loud controller.. my game audio isn't very loud and if I don't mask the X1 controller noise, it's even worse LOL

I guess I'm just in a weird position :)

They just deal with it tho but was just surprised that it was enough for them to call it out. :P

It's not much but I slightly prefer the PS4 since I'm still getting used to the X1 bumpers. Yeah, I know the "technique" but it still feels weird. Feels very awkward when I had to spam it to open a door in Halo 4 (first time playing this game).

It's kinda fun to use the dpad with my right thumb tho (X1).

I don't think the Xbox controller is noisy I can't comment on the PS4 controller because I don't own a Sony system.

My DS4 makes this creaking sound when I twist it slightly, my brothers XBO controller doesn't. XBO controller feels hollow and that hard plastic makes it feel cheap. I don't know about sound though.

Thank god for Bloodborne, GG Xrd, inFamous and multiplats then....jackass.

Also yes the controller is much noisier, the bumpers are atrocious and click so loudly it becomes distracting.

Also the trigger suck ass.

-DS4 triggers suck ass too. DS4 is also littered with sharpish surfaces (face buttons + the platform that the face buttons/D-pad are sitting on.)

-Both controllers have shitty analog sticks. They've both done a great job of making my thumbs hurt.

-DS4 still has that retarded light bar that you can't turn off and the overall battery life is absolute shit. My Eneloops take a dump on whatever craptastic battery they put in that thing.

-Symetrical analog placement still sucks. D-Pad Up is usually the most important button for equipment/tools in games and you have to reach the farthest with the DS4.

360 controller (minus the d-pad, but I don't play fighers so who cares) is still king. And this is exactly why I want a CronusMax to use for the games that don't require the touchpad.

I disagree, I love the feel of the PS4 controller and use it for fighters and platformers. Also what is even the issue with the light thing?

Even on PC I use my PS4 controller (use 360 for GTA and DmC)

Never really thought about it, my surround sound trumps any controller noise there might be so it's a nonfactor to me. Or I'll just have on my turtle beach headphones so I don't hear any of that.

The noise doesn't bother me on either controller. However, I noticed the PS4 shoulder buttons (L1, R1) tend to stick and the controller has horrible battery life.

LOL I can relate.. don't have a partner but have people with me in a small apartment and that's how it is.. well, they're just getting annoyed but I bet if they want to sleep they can easily do so since that's how they are :P

Not as bad as the X1 IMO specially with the far-in dead zone.. well, I could get used to it one day.

DS4 IMO is worse. Too slippery and gummy weird.. and frail coating.. but it seem to be slightly more comfy than the X1 IMO because it's a bit softer.

Kinda but I can kinda claw and no clawing in X1 layout.

I tried the 360 controller and prefer it. I like the X icon location and its bumpers more than X1's. Don't like the dpad tho.

I have both machines since launch 2013.

I game in a room with 7.1 surround sound and high quality tower speakers.

Yes, the Xbone controllers are much noisier with the clicks and squeaks and I can hear it over my surround sound at times.

Indeed, it's terrible. That's what you get with cheap off-shore Chinese labor.

Yeah my launch controller has a squeak to it every now and then, not all the time but its extremely annoying when it happens. It doesnt effect anything for gaming purposes so I ignore it.

Anyone here have the new X1 controller with the 3.5 headset port? I might buy one later this year. That $150 elite better not make any noise. lol

PlayStation 4

Louder triggers

Louder main buttons (triangle, square etc.)

Louder start/select

Controller flexes and makes creaking sounds due to thinner plastic

Xbox One

Louder bumpers

Louder D-pad

Louder analog presses

Just noticed that (loud triggers DS4)

I find the face buttons same loudness on each.

Share and Options are slightly louder than X1's equivalent using my units.

DS4 DOES flex more and SQUEAKS even lol (just tried it). I've only tried flexing it because of you otherwise I wouldn't know (not normal usage).

Yup. My X1's analog presses are slightly louder than the PS4.

The Dpad and bumper clicks are on a different level, so much louder compared to the DS4's Share, Option, Toucpad in my X1 controller.

Thanks for sharing.
