Sunset Overdrive Mixes Platforming And Shooting (Updated)

Pretty sure it is co-op based on a tweet from the Sunset OD account but I could be wrong.

This game looks way better than I expected, looks genuinely fun.

Definite buy.

Well, I can certainly see mammoth loads of cow jelly on this topic. Maybe now they'll finally admit all the Resistance games were pure utter shit, to diminish Insomniacs reputation.

This world, it's kind of so colorful it's sickeningly cute, and that jumping, sliding, bumping around, it's like what I'd imagine a open world Nickelodeon game show would be like, hell even the enemies appear to be made of Gak.

Man, the gameplay looks sooo boring, uninspired, and tiresome. Infamous already did all of this much better in an open world setting and with much much much better graphics.

Traversal in SunSet Over Drive looks slow and cubersome too. SunSet Over Drive looks like it will get old fast and quick. Looks very lackluster all around (graphics look they could be done on PS3 too)

Lets keep it real, if SubSet Over Drive werent an xbone exclusive, no one would give two shits about it (certainly not these xbots who in the past called Insomniac an awful developer yet now that Insomniac is working with Microsoftlimpdick, are now praising Insmoniac. Such hypocrisy from xbots has been exposed)

No wonder why "its fun" has become the talking point of all lackluster xbone games, 

TitanFall was being called fun a lot too, and we all saw how that turned out. TitanFall is practically dead now lol

Also, there have been many legit complaints about the gameplay in this thread alone. That SunSet OverDrive looks boring. Or that it looks like it can get old quick.

The mainline Ratchet and Clank games were great on PS3. The Resistance games on PS3 were good

BUT Fuse was awful

FUSE PROVES that Insomiac is garbage without Sony

SunSet Over Drive will be garbage, just like Fuse was

Fuse PROVES that Insomniac HAS DECLINED greatly

Majority of gamers whove actually played Infamous have loved it..and many including me consider Infamous Second Son THE best game of next generation by far

The traversal in Infamous is SECOND to NONE. Neon sprinting or flying up buildings with video powers in Infamous is one of the greateat gameplay sensations yet. Just feels soo good...looks soo good.. its awesome....

The combat is sublime too.

Infamous drops you into an open world playground with super powers and the option of traversal combat and its up to you how you want to take out the enemies

You cant discredit Infamous when SunSet is trying to do the same and has worse traversal, much less options in combat, and has boring guns instead of super powers. Dumb xbot.

Everything SunSet is going for, Infamous ALREADY DID it all much better, with better gameplay abilities and better graphics in an open world setting

Also, watch SunSet end up having WORSE / more repetitive missions then Infamous too. Youre setting yourself up for a major backfire xbot.

However the side missions in Infamous were designed well to fit the story and they werent over bearing. I LOVED that

Ganeplay in Infamous is so amazingly fun nothing really matterered though. I enjoyed the story as well.

Give me Killzone, Knack, The GREAT Infamous, and MLB PLUS superior multi plats OVER ANY thing on the xbone

To be honest, I can see Ratchet & Clank game-play in there, with a little Dead Rising "zombie-types" for good measure. I even see traces of Resistance in design of the zombie types. I'm speaking from a gameplay perspective. You could transplant R&C into this game and they would work (the platform-y swinging around stuff, the variety of weapons, the weapon types, movement and camera angles...), other than they don't fit in this NEW universe Insomniac is creating.

Ratchet and Clank in a Dead Rising world...

If that gameplay holds true, what I will find interesting is seeing Ratchet and Clank previous haters (iof which there were legions) buying this game up and claiming how fun suddenly Insomniac's games are. Amusing. I'll give the game a shake when it comes out, provided it doesn't crash and burn like FUSE did (the first Insomniac game I didn't buy).

Without Sony over their shoulders, Insomniac dropped the ball replacing Sony with EA as publisher in Fuse's case. I'm not sure what having M$ as a partner will do for Insomniac, but I can look at RARE, Bungie, Bizarre, Ensemble, and others and take a guess.

I hope it's great, I would love to add it to my collection, even though I'm not convinced it's going to be a big seller. Lucky for me, I don't care about sales, just pure fun games for me to play.

Well, your account is from 2012. It's at this point that users will sometimes claim they have older accounts. Be that as it may, if you did have an older account you would know what you said to be untrue, unless you simply don't visit SW that much. I would agree that I haven't seen any Lems LATELY bash it, for 2014 certainly, but it happened tons and for a great many years. I find the promotion of this game by previous haters to be very hilarious. If they end up liking this game, it makes me wonder why they skipped over the R&C games, but I guess they figured those games were kiddy, although metacritic shows the gameplay was fantastic in a great many R&C titles.

Let me tell you something, R&C got bashed a lot in the Xbox-Gamecube-PS2 SW era hardcore, and in the PS3 days things came to a very dark place when the bashing got insane.

In fact, 2007's Tools of Destruction was a laughing stock of SW. That's right, in 2007 the PS3 was a new machine and R&C Tools of Destruction was being touted in the same manner this title is, and it flopped and was ridiculed. Insomniac also were very unhappy with Gamespot.com's review and it was a big deal in SW talking about the poor review and reviewer (a sports guy named Aaron Thomas who wrote a poor review). Long story short, people with very little history shouldn't speak of what they've seen because I can tell you there is a very storied and long history with R&C and it's being bashed. People (Lems as you say) pointed to Banjo, Conkers, Viva as being better looking and better games...it was messy.

The honest truth is Fanboys say and do whatever they do to troll and they didn't want to play R&C because they couldn't. And vice versa. Sure, not every game is for everyone, but R&C was fun and I'm hoping Sunset is fun as well. It certainly looks like an R&C game after having played every single one. I'm actually an Insomniac expert and I've met Ted Price as well.

I'm an Insomniac fan and I will be buying this game for my Xbone (which has been collecting dust as of late), unless the unthinkable happens and the game fails critically like FUSE did, which I sincerely hope does not happen.

FUSE was the only Insomniac game I didn't buy. I hope this game is great, I would love to buy it and support them.

This preview looks good to me. Looks insanely fluid, and very fun so far. Can't wait until they show off some multiplayer (I don't even have an Xbone.). The sheer amount of Salt in thread is hilarious.
